Hey, Hotlanta, this guy's got some opinions worth fussing about a bit.

I wonder where he gets the basis for all these judgments?

Raiderjoe, you should give us the background at how you arrived at all this would be 'wisdom' on our new FA players...

How do I form those opinions. Easy by watching NFL games. This isn't brain surgury. Everything I said is the common opinion about those players around the league.(Correct me if IM wrong this is 2008, and not 2003) IF Kris jenkins was playing at a probowl Level, you really think Carolina Panthers would have traded him. Three or four years ago a 320 pound DT Kris Jenkins was the best DT in the game. Now Jets are hoping he plays at a robust 360.(hoping) That was not his probowl weight. Do you remember Chester Mcglockton. He was a probowl DT too, just not when Jets got him. This signing is just as risky. Hopefully for you, Jets will have better results with Kris jenkins.

Listen go to forums of those former teams , of the freeagent you signed. Ask them about the player. They have seen those players every week. Than tell me what you found out.

First of all this seems a little jumping the gun, first of all O-lineman tend to become free agents in there 30's and usually can play longer so its not a win now thing, Faneca is in his prime. Franks and Richardson are old guys signed to one year deals so its nothing major here, Plus pace is 28 so he is also in his prime

Have you read any OF my post. YOu can't make general statements like that Nobody knows at what age a player is going to start to decline. YEs some olineman do play very well in their late thirties, and some are finished by thirty. You just never know. All we know is faneca play did slip from the previous year. Now could that just have been one bad year. IT could or it could be he his skills are starting to decline. Only time will tell. The Steelers have a pretty good track record in knowing when to let their FAs go. (IF you read any of my post I believed this was a risk worth taking-wasn't against this signing)

Pace has done what. The guy h'as I believe six sacks( hisBest Year) That is not cutting it In a 3-4 defense , as your OLb are the one getting the pressure on the QB. YEs Pace could get better or he could have Pulled a B thomas- played his best football in a contract year. Time will tell.

Richardson and Franks are fringe players at this point. Maybe you can squeeze a good year out of one of them. Well worth taking a chance on . These players skills might be almost be gone, but they still have al;ot of knowledge to possible help groom their eventually replacement.

I like the "win now" philosophy. Beats the piss out of the "win 2 or 3 years from now" philosophy.

well if that's the case, these Falcon fans don't seem too heartbroken over losing, who they call, "MeAngelo."

It's amazing that you have the sack to make all of these posts now considering how you disappeared for the entire second half of the season, jeaux.

this team is built for lasting results

feneca/woody help out the fiture of the o line

if pace is what is expected is still young

jenkins is still on the right half agewise

then you have the young bucks of revis, harris, rhodes, d'brick, mangold, neon leon, plus whoever gets added on in this draft

all looks to be win now and later

If memory serves, I believe Kris Jenkins criticized the Panthers as "having no heart" and wanted out from there to any where he could get as fast as possible. I'm sure the 'mutual admiration society' was long gone by that time.

I remember a similar story about the mutual disenchantment between the Fish and a disgruntled linebacker by the name of Cox. That one turned out pretty good for the NYJ too.

For the millonth time there is no set age when a player starts to decline. Kris Jenkins play has been going down fast the last couple years. Now hes about 40 pounds heavier than he was as a probowl player. Carrying that excess weight and hes more suspectible to injury. Thats alot of extra pressure on his knees.

Considering we are still one of the youngest teams in the league I would say this thread becomes pretty much worthless.

Okay, okay let me get this straight. Based on what you have said in this thread. The Jets defense is going to suck against the pass and they are taking HUGE risks getting these players from other teams. However, based on the players the Raiders have SIGNED AND TRADED FOR AS WELL, they have a chance to make it to the superbowl???

Raise your hand if you can say double-standard! Or hypocrital! Come on Raiderjoe raise your hand, you know you want to.
