    Finishing Free Agency

Sign Ty Law: This has been debated a lot since we have shown interest in him, but as see this as a move that does nothing but help. We can sign him to a cheap one year contract and put him at FS, as opposed to CB, and he would be the perfect centerfielder to compliment Rhodes. He knows Mangini's system, and he will help Revis tremendously, as he is good friends with him and Revis' mentor. He will also help in the development of guys like Elam and Justin Miller, as well as the CB that we draft.

    Trades

Our #6 Pick (Hoping McFadden is still there) to the Dallas Cowboys for their #22, #28 and 3rd rounder.
I know this is in most mocks, but I am DESPERATELY hoping it will happen. If McFadden is gone, it is likely Gholston and both Longs will also be gone, meaning we are stuck with players we do not need. If McFadden isn't there for us, I really don't know what we do, since we will not have any leverage to trade down.

    Draft

    1a (22). Limas Sweed | WR | Texas
    - Although WR isn't our biggest need, it is still a need for us. And at this point in the draft, Sweed would be an extremely valuable pick. Sweed has all the makings of an amazing NFL WR, and would have gone top 10 most likely if he was not injured this past season. He would instantly become the centerpiece as the future of our offense.

    1b (28). Antoine Cason | CB | Arizona
    - We need a CB to play opposite Revis, and I don't think Miller can cut it, although I do think he can be an excellent #3. Cason is the last of the top CBs that will be available, and I think we need to grab him. The drop off between Cason and CBs like Tracy Porter and Terrell Thomas is huge in my opinion. While OLB will also be looked at here, I think Groves will be gone and there are so many good 3-4 OLBs in this draft, I am confident we can get a good one. Plus, we just added Pace.

    2 (36). Chris Avril | OLB | Purdue
    - Avril is the perfect 3-4 OLB speed rusher. He is 6-2, 250 and runs a 4.5. The Jets have shown interest in him and I think at this point in the draft he would be a great pick. We need the compliment to Pace, although he will still have to battle it out with Bryan Thomas in training camp.

    3 (92). Jonathan Goff | ILB | Vanderbilt
    - Goff had an excellent combine but fell due to the emergence of players like Curtis Lofton and Jerod Mayo. Goff has the perfect size and speed for this defense, and is consistently around the ball (actually reminds me a lot like a lesser David Harris when he was coming out last year). Goff would complete this young linebacker corps for the future.

    4 (98). Kendall Langford | DE | Hampton
    - The perfect 3-4 DE. He is 6-5, 290 and runs a 4.9, he also played the 3-4 DE position at Hampton. Great depth and the possible future replacement for Shaun Ellis on the d-line. Another option here is Nick Hayden, from Wisconsin. Either player would be great value here.

    4 (123). Kirk Barton | OT | Ohio State
    - He might go a bit earlier than this, but he could very realistically fall to this spot. He is an athletic (5.00 40) and strong (34 reps at his pro day) OT that can be molded nicely as possibly Damien Woody's replacement.

    6. Durant Brooks | P | Georgia Tech
    - Ben Graham was below average last year. Brooks would compete with Jeremy Kapinos as our new punter. Brooks was the best punter in the nation in 07.

    7. Matt Flynn | QB | LSU
    - An athletic but VERY inconsistent QB. If we can just get rid of those inconsistencies, he could be a very good backup QB for the future. He has the athleticism and the intangibles, and looks very good at times, but is just too inconsistent.

    7. Nile Legania | CB | Wayne State
    - Lightning fast CB, who I think could be a really good punt returner for us. Legania Highlight Reel

    Final Team

QB: Kellen Clemens | Chad Pennington | Matt Flynn
RB: Thomas Jones | Leon Washington | Jesse Chatham
    FB: Tony Richardson
WR1: Laveranues Coles | Limas Sweed | Chansi Stuckey
WR2: Jerricho Cotchery | Brad Smith | Wallace Wright
TE: Chris Baker | Bubba Franks | Joe Kowalewski
LT: D’Brickashaw Ferguson | Clint Oldenburg
LG: Alan Faneca | Will Montgomery
C: Nick Mangold | Wade Smith
RG: Brandon Moore | Jacob Bender
RT: Damien Woody | Kirk Barton

DE: Shaun Ellis | Dewayne Robertson (not sure what will happen with him) | C.J. Mosley
NT: Kris Jenkins | Sione Pouha
DE: Kenyon Coleman | Kendall Langford | Kareem Brown
SOLB: Calvin Pace | David Bowens
ILB: David Harris | Brad Kassell
ILB: Eric Barton | Jonathan Goff
WOLB: Bryan Thomas | Chris Avril
CB1: Darrelle Revis | Justin Miller | Drew Coleman
CB2: Antoine Cason | David Barrett | Nile Legania
FS: Ty Law | Abram Elam | Artrell Hawkins
SS: Kerry Rhodes | Eric Smith

    K: Mike Nugent
    P: Durant Brooks/Jeremy Kapinos
    LS: James Dearth
KR: Justin Miller | Leon Washington
    PR: Nile Legania

I'd splooge happiness out of every orifice if we had that draft.

I personally think Sweed's gone in the top 20, but if we could nab him at 22 that would be awesome.

Cason should be able do develop into a solid #2 on the other side of Revis with his instincts and techique. Although I'm not 100% sold on him because of his speed, he could still be very good.

Avril in the 2nd seems like a very good pick to add depth to the OLB corps and push Thomas later in the season. I like this kid's speed and athleticism.

Goff and Langford would be ideal need-vs.-value picks as well.

Everyone from there on down looks good as well. Nice mock.

    No way Law plays Saftey...

No way he signs a cheap 1 year contract...

I never thought of Law playing safety, but wouldn't mind seeing it. Either way I think we should try to sign him as long as the price is right. The pats were interested too apparently so he must have some game left.

I also heard the jets were meeting with Troy Brown, wouldn't be a bad guy to have to add depth.

I like the way this mock goes, and it would be very good for us, and it just gives us the best chance to improve ourselves the fastest. the trade down is important and in doing so snagging the best WR in the draft in Sweed, and the last of the top CB's in Cason is a good deal as well. I think Avril is going to be a good one, and I am warming up to Goff more and more and as people have said Barton and Langford are great value vs. need picks. the only things I question are the picks of Brooks and Flynn, I just am really against drafting a punter especially in the 6th round.... and I just am not optimistic that a 7th round QB will even make the team over Tui much less become a capable backup. I would much prefer to draft guys who are pure football guys, and build the depth on the lines and in the defense.

talk about and ideal scenario, This would be possibly the greatest draft ever, but other teams get picks you know.

We see this trade too often, but it would be ideal for both sides, however.

I don't think Sweed makes it there... Try Devin Thomas or Malcolm Kelly.

LOVE the Cason pick and I feel he might be the top CB in this draft when all is said and done...

I also love the Avril pick. He's a perfect fit at OLB in the 3-4 and had some good pedigree at the position from Purdue.

Goff would be an excellent choice if he's there and so would Langford. Try switching Langford and Barton though for "realisticness"

Last three look good as well.

Ty Law to safety? I love it. I don't see why he wouldn't be a good fit there. Great signing.

This may be the best Jets mock I've seen in terms of the picks made and how realistic it is. Great job.

What's so unrealistic about this draft? Maybe Sweed will be gone, but Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly should be around (One of the two) and either would be great.

Cason and Avril will certainly be around.

Goff MIGHT not be around and if the 4th round picks are switched, it will almost definately work and might anyway...

I don't see why the final three won't be around either../

I think the most unrealistic part about the draft is the trade with Dallas. I highly doubt McFadden drops falls all the way to 6. If he DOES drop, I feel like passing on him will haunt our franchise for years.

Well at this point, the only road block of him getting to us is Oakland. Miami has Ronnie Brown, St. Louis Stephen Jackson, Atlanta Michael Turner and KC Larry Johnson. Oakland even just signed Jason Fargas to a new deal. It's a distinct possibility.

I also think we'll be just fine without him, although I wouldn't mind if we get him. With the new O-Line and a rotation of Jones, Washington, and Chatham, we've got a finesse back, a speed back, and a power back and can keep everyone fresh and everyone should be productive. Sounds fine to me.

Cason isn't worth a first round pick, and I'd say that Porter is better than Cason.

Well the trade is unrealistic but overlooking that, Sweed will not make it to 22 hes like the consensus top wr hell go before 20. Goff will not be there in the 3rd. I'm not sure about avril, i guess he will be there. Cason will prob be there but there are alot of teams looking db in the back half of the draft.

Even the Raiders could pass on him. I did some research on there site, The Raiders have 6 RB's. I think that could be a main reason if they pass on DMAC which I see them doing.
