They are doing their homework and meeting all of the top draft choices. They did they same the past few years. I would be surprised if they didn't. I still expect them to take Gholston if he is there, but they will probably be trying desperately to trade. What I found more significant news this week, is that thay made it a point to have a private workout with OT Cherilus (the only prospect not in the top 10, they have meet with I believe). I have a feeling they are targeting that kid, but are willing to go BPA in the first round. Then again it could all be smoke and mirrors like last years. I have nothing to base it on, just a gut feeling.
I don't want him now: The wheels are a character issue, the whole car is a character issue and parking in front of Taco Bell to get your car photographed is definitely a character issue.
Why on earth would you pick any of them if McFadden was there? That would be like being sold a chevy when you thought you were buying a cadillac. Tangini would be laughed right out of town.
*Wasn't* there. And even then, who said we had McFadden rated as the #1 player in the draft? Who says we even like him? Who says we even think he's the #1 running back? You're making ALOT of assumptions here and thats somehow basically locked our pick down to 4 choices for some reason....theres a month+ before the draft...why do we have to get one of 4 specific players when one of the best things about our pick is that we're going to get an elite talent in this draft anyway?
can anyone say "SMOKESCREEN"? we're not drafting this guy. we're putting ourselves in position to seem like we are so some other team like dallas will give us picks to come up and get him.
No, "was there". If we don't have him rated as the number 1 player in the draft then we are just plain stupid. Everybody else does. That's not to say he will be the first pick, or 2nd or even in the top 5. I'm just saying if he is the only one of the three left that can actually help this team (the other two being Chris Long and Golston) and we don't take him we will be ridiculed by everybody for years to come. Unless of course he ends up in jail.
Maybe Dallas can come up with a hefty signing bonus to cover all those child support payments the judge is going to be passing out.
The other thing about not taking him at #6 would be watching NE take him at #7 and they need a RB even less than we do.
You're kidding, right? You think they wouldn't love to add a McFadden to that receiving game and score 50 points a week instead of only 35? Well, doesn't matter what either of us think we will just get to watch it unfold if we pass.
I don't know, I'm not that concerned that the PATS would take McFadden. They just drafted Laurence Maroney last year with their #1 pick (26th overall), so they've got to have some serious money tied up in this guy by now, no? Why would they want to spend they're #7 on another RB only a year later? It's an upgrade, yeah, but that big of an upgrade to warrant spending #7 on? I don't see it happening.
