Scenario is we get Gholston at #6 (I will be crying tears of happiness if this happens) from there how do we get a WR, ILB and CB as the rest of the draft plays out??? Please everyone tell me who and what round you would like to get.
I'll be screaming up and down the house if we could somehow land Chris Long. That would be absolutely phenominal!
My ideal draft with the existing picks we have now are 1.6. Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB 2.36. James Hardy, WR 4.98. Beau Bell, MLB but more then likely not available would go with Erin Henderson or Jon Goff if not 4.109. Kendall Langford, DE 6.162. Owen Schmitt, FB 7.193. Mike Dragosavich, P (gotta love that last name)
Owen Schmitt will make it to the 6th? What, are people worried about the brain injuries from the helmet bashing or are his poor punting skills what drops him?
I think we will get a CB before the draft but I also don't see it as a big need..actually, we don't have any big needs right now. I do think another OLB (Long or Golston) would make this team scary. ILB would be nice if there is one sitting there in the second or fourth rounds. Good WRs can be found anywhere from the 2nd to the 7th and even as walkons if you have done your homework right.
How often are FB's drafted in earlier rounds Ive seen mock drafts with some of the FB's dropping into the 6th round. Hester (LSU), Hillis (Arkansas), Felton (Furman), Stewart (Auburn) some teams may have some of these Higher then him I personally wouldnt mind Hester either.
Hillis and Schmitt are head and shoulders above the rest. Hester is a fat tailback who succeeds because of momentum. He doesn't consistently keep his legs moving after contact and he can't get that momentum from the fullback position. He's not that big, either. Isn't he about 5'10" 225lb? Stewart is a good receiving fullback but there is nothing else spectacular about him. Admittedly I don't know Felton at all, so I can't comment on him. If the fourth round ends without Hillis or Schmitt gone, something is seriously wrong. If one of them is still around come the sixth round, it probably is because of the worries about Schmitt getting brain damage.
Can anyone tell me what the deal is with Texas Tech QB Graham Harrell? I saw his numbers and he seems to be a better choice over Matt Ryan. I dont follow college football at all as you might have noticed now. Is he ineligible for the draft or what? If he's coming to draft next year, I say we wait for him. His numbers are astonishing.
The fullbacks from the last two years have sucked and in 05 the first two were taken in rounds 4 and 5, in 2006 in rounds 4 and 6. This year we have two very good fullback prospects in Schmitt and Hillis, and you people seem to think that they'll both be around in the sixth round? A good fullback is priceless. You guys make it sound like they're worthless.
If McFadden is still there at 6, it will put us in the same spot few years ago when we picked DRob. We gave up couple of first rounders to pick him. This time, we will GET two first rounders plus more to give up the no.6. Dallas is prime candidate to move up. I would trade with the Cowboys and pick two solid picks with a Third. Jones will call up the jets the moment no.5 is picked and say, "Trade with in the next 5 minutes and we'll even throw in a free Carpenter." Pick Brohm/Flacco with the 36th Jets picks Abiq Talib, L Sweed/M Kelly and Brohm/Flacco and our worries will be over. If McFadden ends up being a GangGreen member, NY will still shatter with loud celebration. Either way, we sit nicely as long as McFadden falls to 6.
i dont think graham harell is leaving but if he is hes not considered a top prospect because he ran the spread at texas tech, alot like colt brennan. 5 Wide and throw it every time. Not what you call a "pro" style offense.
Number's aren't everything. Texas Tech is a dangerous place for QBs because of the style of offense they play it makes the QB look better. Coach Mike Leach's offense is not one that the NFL likes to take people from. Tim Couch is the last "good" prospect to come from Leach's offensive game.
Makes sense...Thanks SOJ2008 and NDmick ! Like I said, not a college football fan. He did put up some impressive numbers but is choosing to stick around his mates till the senior year. I think he'll be a good prospect. Maybe not necessarily a first round but with such numbers, Im pretty sure he'll be a day 1 prospect. Lets see what happens.
Long = 3-4 OLB. I'd jump for joy if we landed Balmer, Moore, Rubin, Pressley, Hayden, Langford, Harrison...someone for more DL depth.
