If a team tried to trade me this much I wouldn't want to play there, so I think that Drob probably wants to get out of NY as bad as we want him out. Hopefully he restructures and doesn't completely screw us from getting anything by making us released him. Hes a good 3-4 if his knee and contract weren't nightmares he would have been an easy sale... o well.
I think DRob knows hes a bad or mediocre player. Hes not gonna restructure and allow a team to take money from him because he doesnt have confidence he will be able to land another big conract. Because he wont restructure, the Jets will probably have to cut him. Hope this isnt true.
Kenyon Coleman is the starter on the opposite side. Shaun Ellis will have to be the rotation guy. I hope D-Rob get's shipped out, but it won't hurt to have him on the d-line if he restructures.
That's a big if, if you ask me. I don't see DRob restructuring, frankly speaking. If he took a paycut, to the level of play he was displaying, I wouldn't mind him on the roster. At $10+M per year? He can go take a hike.
i just dont see why he WOULDNT restructure. i am confident he will end up with quite a bit of guaranteed money if he restructures, i really dont see anyone giving him a ton of guaranteed money not more than he could get restructuring. when his ass is cut. maybe im the naive one here but i just dont see him making out better not restructuring.
He is not bad nor mediocre. He is well above average to excellent but not a pro-bowler. From the prospective of the 4th round pick and the multiple picks he cost us, he was not the perennial pro-bowler you want in that spit, but none of that changes his a ability on the field. He is our best defensive lineman and a very, very good football player.
#4 pick, not 4th round..haha. In any event I am pretty sure he will end up being traded to Denver for something. Everyday seems to add to that.
I wonder what we'll spend the freed up cap money on, rookies aside. Maybe we'll try to roll some of it on to next year. We still need a legit #3 QB (not to mention a #1 :wink unless Ratliff is expected to progress to that level this year.
I think a CB is still in the plans..FA DB. Unless we manage to get one from Denver as part of the trade.
It is easy to come down on DROb, but just like our QB's struggled last year behind a poor offensive line, DRob was playing in a position he was ill-suited for. Before the 3-4, was the guy ever really wowing anybody; not really, but he has not been a bad player. The guy does come to play. He doesn't stay out of a game because he is sick or he is not a perpetual groin-pull either. DRob just has never been given optimal conditions. Nevertheless; I am not sure he can play DE in our 3-4 either - certainly not full-time. Factor that in with his enormous contract and it is time to part company. I still think some kind of trade will get done before June 1st. If not, we will definitely cut him. If we did pick up Denver's 3rd round pick and had to give up one of our 4th round picks along with DRob, plus we might get a potential conditional pick next year, then I think that is fair; all things considered. You can bet he will not be here after June 1st; that is for sure. We need to free up his cap room to sign whomever we end up drafting.
Broncos | D. Robertson undergoes physical Tue, 18 Mar 2008 08:52:14 -0700 Mike Klis, of The Denver Post, reports New York Jets DL Dewayne Robertson was in Denver last week to take a physical for the Denver Broncos. The Broncos remain interested in acquiring Robertson in a possible trade with the Jets. Hopefully this is a good sign
WTF? This is weird. The dateline is this morning but it's old news just the same. It would be like, "Newsflash... (today's date and time).... The Jets signed Alan Faneca last week."
The time is CST not EST thats why its 3 hours old. I hadnt heard anywhere about this before. I just found it on Kffl
But I heard last week that Robertson took a physical for the Broncos.... Oh.... wait a minute.... Maybe I owe you an apology! Maybe it was that I knew he had taken a physical for the first team we talked to... I'm all confused... sorry! Maybe this is current news after all.
Here's the latest from Tom Rock's blog on newsday.com March 18: How close is the deal to send D-Rob to Denver? Well, Mike Klis of the Denver Post is reporting that the Jets defensive tackle was in the Mile High City last week for a physical. Although the results of that process haven't been released, they were clearly good enough to keep the conversation flowing between the Jets and the Broncos. It has been reported that Robertson's physical is what sunk an earlier deal to send him to the Bengals. He has a bone-on-bone knee condition that could be worrysome for some teams. Last week a report on the NFL Network speculated that Robertson has only one or two more years left in the league.
