(AP) -- Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart underwent surgery earlier this week to repair a right toe injury he suffered in November. Recovery is expected to take four to six months, preventing Stewart from working out for scouts as scheduled at Oregon's second pro day and potentially hurting his stock heading into the NFL draft April 26-27. But his agent, Ben Dogra, said the 45-minute procedure went smoothly and Stewart would be ready for training camp in July. He is expected to be a first-round draft pick. "At the same time there's nothing you can do about it," said Stewart. "So there's no need to stress about it." He sustained the turf toe injury against Arizona on Nov. 15 and it hadn't healed on its own. So as dissapointing as this is, Stewart will likely fall out of round 1 because of this injury, so the question becomes how far does he fall?
If we dont take Dmc in round 1 i would love to take Stewart in round 2 to pair with Leon long term, we wont need Stewart next year at all really so this injuey should not scare us.
right decision for Stewart, and im pretty sure no team will take him with their first round pick now, but then again, nobody thought Willis Mcgahee would go in round one either, but the Bills gambled on him... of course Mcgahee was slated to go in the top 5 that year no questions asked.
Two words: Willis McGahee. His knee was virtually non-existant and he still went in the first round. Someone will probably select J-Stewart somewhere in the 20's.
Sounds like a good plan to me. This kids a hard runner with good hands out of the backfield. Def worth a shot if he falls to us in the second round.
Willis was a much better prospect than Stewart plus Willis only had to battle with Larry Johnson for the top spot.D-Mac and Mendenhall are ahead of him followed by Felix and Chris Jonhson not behind.
Felix Jones and Chris Johnson have nothing on Jonathan Stewart. Stewart is having a surgery on his big toe...big deal. It's a correctable problem. I don't know if you can call McGahee a better prospect. His knee was trashed...so no one knew if he'd be able to return to normal form. I didn't say Stewart was battling for the top spot. McFadden will most likely go in the Top 10, and Mendenhall should go in the top 15. Someone will select Stewart in between 15-29. He's far too talented to pass up.
