Listen I did give Props to Kris jenkins. Ted Washington always said his number 1 job was to stop the other teams running game. I did say Jets would have one of the best run defenses out there. So how is that a slap on Jenkins. Only thing I said was their personel; is not complete yet, as I think they are very suspectible to the pass. Legitimate concern. Calvin Pace is the reincarnation of Adalius Thomas. Rarely do you find a guy that big that good in coverage. IF you think hes that kind of player, than pass down what you are smoking.

This is one of those "the sky is falling" threads. The article actually says Jenkins finished the 2007 season at 400lbs - it didn't even say what he's at today - if that's even relevant?

We are starting offseason workouts TODAY! The question is not if he's 400lbs today even, but what he'll weigh and in what kind of shape he's in when he reports to training camp this Summer...in 90 days!

This is the pass defense rankings from ESPN.com for 2007.

    1 Tampa Bay
    2 Indianapolis
    3 Pittsburgh
    4 Miami
    5 Kansas City
    6 New England
    7 Denver
    8 Oakland
    9 NY Jets
    10 Tennessee

Also not that the Jets were 18th overall whilst the raiders were 22nd. Only Miami was worse than Oakland against the run. I hope that ridiculous amoutn of money spent on Kelly will amount to them being better than at least 2 teams on run defense this year.

Can we pause for a moment and recollect what RaiderJoe is saying. I would think he knows something about giving an unproven DT, Tommy Kelley, an unwarranted, hefty, contract that set the market for all the other defensive tackles.

RaiderJoe, your Oakland Raiders are in complete and utter disarray. Additionally, if you are going to post on this forum, use the proper terminology. Physiology is the study of organ systems and muscles, I believe you meant philosophy.

We can however talk about the physiology of JaMarcus Russell. Obesity is the proper term.

More accurately, it said nearly 400#. Does that mean 375?

No doubt about Raiders defense has to first prove they can stop the run. I believe they will be alot better First because now they have two shutdown Cb. Can put more defenders in the box. 2. I think they have their personel better suited to be sucesful. Like not having the 266 pount D Burgess at Base DE on the massive RT(thats not condusive to sucess)
Tom Kelly a big upgrade over W sapp in the running game.( Raiders saw how much their run defense regressed without Kelly) Raiders have added alot of guys who tackling ability is very good. Gilbril wilson over whiff schweigert . Lets M Huff one of the besty cover safeties to go to Fs . Deangelo hall is another very solid tackler. To get your defense off the field you have to be able to make the tackle. For example its third and five, you have chance to tackle the guy for a three yard gain. You have to make it. Thats the little diffrence from being a good defense and a great one.

Joe - Thanks for bringing back some energy to the forum. It's been a little slow here since our signings awhile back.

Has hall signed anything yet? The last i saw was that he said he is in the same place he was with his original suitors. That is, without an agreement on the terms of a contract.

Isn't Michael Huff on the trade block and D'Angelo Hall on another team?

How funny. The Raiders are doomed to failure because the culture of failure and total disarray has become systemic. How else does a stud like Moss go from stud (Vikings) to dud (with a thud) back to a stud when he exits the freak show. Now the Raiders go out and give Javon Walker a higher annual salary than Randy Moss an the guy probably can't outrun a 400lb Jenkins. If I were Raider fan, I'd have virtually nothing to be grateful for because I could not (for years now) look around the league and find a team in worse shape.

I feel bad for Raiders fans because they are essentially no different from fans of every other football team except that their team, FO and owner are pretty much dead from the neck up. They do have youth and team speed on their side but all that just means they are a bunch of kids who will continue going nowhere fast.

It's normal for players to put on weight in the offseason, but I don't buy that he finished last season at 400 lbs. I mean, Ted Washington has driften near that mark from time to time and he's an inch taller than Jenkins. This is how Ted Washington looks at 400

Has Kris Jenkins ever been that big? I doubt it.

If the raider lose a 3 or 4 games in a row to begin the new season they are going to fall apart... they don't have any leaders and have a locker room full of loudmouths. I really think the state of the Raiders relies on how their season begins because they don't have to character to make it out of that hole.

That has to be the greatest quote in the history of this site. ....................omg I think I just spit a whole bunch of shit on my computer................. lololololololololololol

The funniest part is Jet fans arguing with this stroke victim as if anything he has ever said or predicted has come to fruition. You would get the same results by ripping a page out of Deon Waricks psychic friends network book and taking a gigantic dump on it while lighting it on fire.

Joe, will you admit that the Raiders have been the biggest joke in football for 5 years running now?

I would love to rag on the Raiders too but I still have too many painful memories...from Ben Davidson using Namath's knee as a tackling dummy in a pre-season game to 4 or 5 years ago..whatever that year was ehen we had to go there three times in a row..to....well, you get the idea.
