http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/don_banks/03/14/five.improved.teams/index.html?eref=T1 Hope this link works. I'll sum up: Top 5 Teams That Improved in the Off-Season: 1) Cleveland Browns 2) Philadelphia Eagles 3) New Orleans Saints 4) Atlanta Falcons 5) Detroit Lions Notice anyone missing from Donnie Brasco's list? I mean, the Falcons?! The Lions?! Are you kidding me?! I will eat your soul, Don Banks. Mark my words.
I pretty much agree with the Browns being in the top five, but the Eagles at 2nd? Why? Because they made one big move and overspent for Asante Samuel? Come On! The Jets have made more progress than the Eagles and deserve 2nd. Donovan McNabb? You've got to be f*cking kidding me.
The only writers of SI that are worth reading are Vic Carucci, Tom Verducci and Dr. Z. Maybe Peter King if its not NY related... I liked his journal about being in Afghanistan- Good read, Tommie Harris is a funny guy.
Don Banks don't give out Lombardi trophy anyway. Why bother? Everybody is allowed to have his opinion, no? I don't really care anyway - no team won SB in march after all.
If it wasn't for fans on message boards giving hack writers press for writing things they don't agree with, no one would read them. "Check it out, this person is an idiot! READ THIS!!"
what's worse is if the Eagles improve by one or two games people will sing their praises for getting 9 or 10 wins. but if the Jets only win 8 (but double there wins from last year), they will be dismissed.
none of this matters at all.. let em hate its only gonna make it better when we're winning games next year.
It's actually a good thing when writers write that crap. Later down the road when things prove to be totally different, they have to explain their sub-moronic drivel.
If only. What would actually happen is that he'd say "everyone thought the same, wasn't just me", or he'll state the opposite opinion and pretend that's what he thought all along.
if you were a sports writer, what would you have written last year when the poster boy for bad attitude and trouble, randy moss, was picked up by NE? would you have predicted an nfl record breaking season for moss with the pats going undefeted? you get the point. like said above, it's all setteled on the field. don't get your panties in a bunch. if we go 4-12 again, then bunch away. and send banks a letter of apology.
What Team was the last "Big Winner" in Free Agency and had a winning season?? Besides NE last year- because they were already good. What mediocre team made a splash and then had a 9-12 win season?
uh, u forgot to mention that not only did don banks not call the jets "winners" in his article, he actually called them one of the big "losers" in free agency. What a turd. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/don_banks/03/07/free.agency/1.html Sorry i didn't realize it was a different article. Here's one where he says top five biggers and losers.
Thats a pretty dumb and negative outlook on the Jets offseason... where does he get off questioning if Feneca can be as productive as Pete Kendell? I don't hear anyone saying Kendell is even near Feneca in talent and he's older.
Why are people ever surprised that the JETS get no respect? I mean it is what it is. The Jets can win back to back Superbowls and STILL the beat writers would find something to crap all over the JETS about I take anything these writers say, good and bad with a grain of salt.
