I don't understand why ESPN praises Cleveland's moves and then says the Jets over spent... I would say that the free agents they signed and the Roger's acquisition has just as many, if not a lot more, questions to answer than our new guys.
Yea Cleveland is overatted. We have a better shot of making the playoffs in 08 than them. How do you allow yourself to not have any draft picks on day one of the draft? I dont like it.
Get out of here homer...they got great value by trading their picks. They are dead even with the Steelers in their division. They are a much stronger team than the Jets...they are much stronger than most teams in this league. Cleveland has: A solid running back with Jamal Lewis. Two big time playmakers with Kellen Winslow Jr. and Braylon Edwards. Derek Anderson looks like the real deal. Cribbs is the best kick returner in the AFC. The offensive line is solid. Their defense just got a lot better with two big time d-linemen with Big Baby Rogers and Corey Williams. They have solid linebackers with Kam Wimbley, Dee Jackson, and Andra Davis -- and the unit is led by a solid veteran: Willie McGinest. 2007's best rookie corner besides Darrelle Revis with Eric Wright, and the best young safety pair in the NFL with Brodney Pool and Sean Jones. They are far from overrated. The Browns are actually pretty scary. They have the chance to be good for a long time.
I wouldn't be so quick to call Lewis a declining runningback after watching the way he ran over our entire defense for a TD this year.

I expected him to have a good 2007; his "prove-them-all-wrong" season. Eric Wright is not the second best Cornerback from last year's draft. Leon Hall of the Bengals was better, and Aaron Ross EARNED his ring.
(I know the game of football...whether it's at the college level or the NFL. I know my shit.) Eric Wright was injured most of the year and he missed some games because of it. He was a tackling machine, and he shut down a lot of good receivers. Aaron Ross was horrible for the better half of 2007...he did step it up in the playoffs though. Leon Hall had a good year...his 5 picks make him look pretty good, but I think Wright as an all-around corner.
Let's Compare ourselves to Cleveland: Shawn Rogers- Can either Dominate or take plays off, injury liability.. if healthy may go to the pro bowl as an NT- Gave up draft pick Corey Williams- Dominant DE, gave up draft pick... will make running on them hard. Stallworth- 7 year deal to an injury liability, Edwards and Winslow are the primaries, don't forget Joe Jureivicous(sp?). Kris Jenkins- NT who loves his new team, position, coach, style, city- 2 2nd day picks, slight injury liability Alan Faneca- All-Pro LG who brings leadership to the O-Line, as well as stability and mentoring to our young LT and C Damien Woody- Stop Gap RT who can play 4 out of 5 O-Line positions. Contract makes him expendable without hurting cap $ Calvin Pace- If Parcells was going to build his pass rush around this kid- then he must be the real deal. Chatman- 3rd String bowling ball who did mediocre behind Miami's line in his starts. Backup Richardson- can lead block, the team, and help create red zone scoring. We gave up only a 3 and 5 for one guy, and it was the biggest need... they gave up half their draft for their needs... because we have less cap space now we lose?? I don't think so, we won out in this period.
I love how they say we overpaid for Jenkins at five-years, $30.25 million..but the Browns got a steal for Rogers at six-years, $42 million contract...with 23 mill coming in the 1st 3 years.
I'm expecting Quinn to take the job pretty soon in Cleveland. Browns fans I speak too really don't like Derek Anderson and were upset he was brought back. Browns look very tough though........But they play the class division of the NFL now, the AFC South this year. No more easy W's vs the AFC West, that had 3 horrible teams. We shall see how well they do.
My thoughts exactly... both teams did real good in the off-season, but we had more holes to fill up so we made more moves so I would give us the edge.
While I agree that this team is better than us and one of the more exciting teams in the league, I think Anderson is solid while the O-line is the real deal. That O-line looks like it'll be the best in the NFL for a looooong time.
The WHOLE TEAM is going to be towards the top of the league for a long time. They'll eventually find someone to replace Jamal Lewis. In my opinion, the Browns will contend for a playoff spot for the next 5 seasons...at least. Savage has built a nasty team.
A few injuries, and the browns will be back at the bottom.....They dont have any depth, and since they dont have too many draft picks, they wont be getting any depth this year....Anderson played well this year, but who's to say he's not a one hit wonder, and Quinn has no experience. Not to say our QB situation is any better though....
Sure if Edwards or Winslow Jr. go down it will hurt, but they have pretty good depth at every position except for running back, and corner. They have much better depth than you think.
I agree the Browns add a lot more competition now to an already competitive AFC... I think it's going to be much harder to make the playoffs in the AFC compared to the NFC.
It's been that way for a while now. The NFC has nothing on the AFC. I don't care if the Giants won the Super Bowl, the AFC has the best teams and the best players...and it's not even close.
