True, although the Jets always got shafted at Shea, too. I remember reading they couldn't play or practice there until after the Mets season was over, so they started every season on some long road trips if the Mets went into the playoffs.
Great pics! The early 80's in Shea is where it all began for me. My Dad had season tickets, and also gave them up when they left Queens. The Jets received a bad deal on concessions revenue, parking rev, and practice priorites. it still breaks my heart this team never has, and never will, have a stadium to call their own. where they are the priority.
You sure about that? I thought Glickman called games back in the 70s. In fact, I remember my dad turning the volume off the TV to play the radio.
I think he called games back in the 70s then took a break and came back in the late 80s. I know Ross called games in '81 & '82, I think it was Steve Albert in '85 and Charley Steiner called games in '86. Glickman's last year was '92 before Paul Olden took over in '93.

It was from that position that Glickman quietly said goodbye to his last audience in December 1992, at age 74."
Makes sense. Didn't know about Charlie Steiner. Did he blow as bad as when he took over for Michael Kay on Yankee games a few years ago? I mean, he's no Suzyn Waldman, but, still, he really sucked.
That is definitely wrong b/c he called games up until 1992. In 1993 we switched to WFAN and Paul Olden took over until Ian Eagle in '97 then Howard David in '98 then Wischusen in '02.
His famous quote after Freeman McNeil scored to make it 20-10 Jets at Cleveland in the '86 div playoffs- "The Jets are going to win this game, the Jets are on their way to the AFC Championship!". Of course we all know how that ended:sad:
Steiner called the New Jersey Generals games in the USFL and now does the Dodgers, so he's been the play-by-play guy for three of my favorite teams. After Olden we had Ian Eagle, every time I see him I still think of him on Jets Point After during the Kotite years. His pet expression in those days was "I'm not sure, but today may have been a new low for this franchise."

That's right, I forgot about him. I thought it was Paul Olden that went to Miami, but it was David. Paul Olden did the intros or something at the Super Bowl one year when he was the Jets guy and the team was real bad. I remember thinking at least our radio guy got there.
I lived in Palm Beach County FL at that time & Howard David was totally despised by the blow hole fans due to his former NYJ position. To make matters worse he use to inform the blow hole fans that his daughter still had season tix to the NYJs.
