People with Jets Law jerseys don't get too excited. He would have to change his number if he is signed. Haha.

As for the move, I say do it. Better than him being on the Patriots. Revis and Law together, nice.

I agree with this, however, Law would just be a player brought in for a few years until we can have a permanent number 2 corner.

I like the idea. Is Ty Law still the best corner in the league? Obviously not. Is he still a very good corner who brings a certain amount of leadership and experience to this defense, absolutely.

I would guess that we're driving his price up for New England.

Or vice versa (very much as I suspect Parcells & Miami did with Calvin Pace)

I'll pass on Law, just my opinion though. Wouldn't be bad if we didn't have to pay him a lot of money.

Neither of us probably want him, we're driving up the price against each other. That would be great if it's just a giant game of chicken.

Uh, no the Dolphins actually wanted Calvin Pace pretty bad. I live down here, Dolphins fans were very angrey after Pace signed with us.

Considering both teams have big needs in the secondary and both teams have a connection to him I dont find it so hard to believe that there is legitimate interest in signing him.

He would be a big upgrade on the field, I am worried about his mentoring skills though, considering that Herm had to keep him away from the young DBs on the roster at the time. I do believe it would be different under Mangini though.

    A few points...

#1) The sentiments of fans often do not equal those of the organization.

#2) My post was speculation, as nobody will ever know whether or not they would actually have wanted to spend that kind of money on a guy like Pace...

#3) I think the Dolphins were interested in Pace, but I don't think they ever planned on spending the type of money we did on him. After the price reached a certain point, they may have simply stayed in the Pace sweepstakes a little longer just to make us shell out more dough..

Again, it's speculation, but don't act as if you know definitively that that was not the case, because you don't....

I could live with this signing, but I have to say where are we getting all this money. I see some cuts, and trades ahead.

...you're one to talk about knowing if something was definite or not.

It's ridiculous to think that Bill Parcells only bid on Calvin Pace to make us spend more and more for him. Some fans are just ridiculous.

Offering that kind of money to a player in the form of a drawn-up contract offer is a pretty big gamble for a player you just want to drive the price up with. It's one thing to float rumors through the agent, quite another to draw up a contract.

I dont see Law coming here- Im sure hes gonna be asking for more money than hes worth and the Patriots will give it to him out of desperation- We're just in it to make sure that New England isn't getting any discounts- As Tannenbaum said- "We're just looking for neck ties right now" (Utecht, Richardson, Ayanbandejo) Lawe is more like a vintage suit that is overpriced and smells like moth balls. In addition, big money needs to be saved for signing draft picks and locking up Rhodes long term- not on Lawe.

Thank God Herm and Bradway are gone.
