yes great management, but we're not going to draft mcfadden, it doesnt matter who thinks we should or we should not, this team will NOT draft him, hes not the type of person who would fit in with this organization, so as much as all of you would love to see him in a jets uniform, it will not happen, the only reason the jets organization would want mcfadden to be available as #6 is so we can trade out to a team that really wants him.
It's just crazy to think this has anything to do with McFadden. It's insurance in case he isn't there. They probably offered this guy a contract of about 600-700,000 and they can just cut him if they don't need him this summer.
It should end all the talk but it wont. For some reason, people think we need a starting RB even though all we needed is a 3rd string back like we picked up. I am not a draft guy so if a CB or Safety is not worth the 6th pick its trade down and get more picks
McNoWay. But feel free to enjoy the fantasy while it lasts. Just remember to temper your disappointment come draft day.
They're going defense,no way they sign Chatman to add to Leon and Jones and also plan on drafting RB.
chatman could easily be realesed this summer i am sure his contract is nothing its all about summer compation thats why he is here
If the Jets probably do want to trade out of 6 because they have spent a ton of money and may not want to spend on a high draft pick (including Gholston and McFadden). But if they can't, and McFadden or Gholston are there, they'll pick them regardless of Calvin Pace or Jessie Chatman.
From Cimini Blog: Leon Washington must be one confused running back this morning. The Jets signed former Dolphins RB Jesse Chatman last night, according to the Palm Beach Post. Chatman, who knows O.C. Brian Schottenheimer from their days together in San Diego, will compete with Washington for the backup job behind Thomas Jones, Chatman’s agent said. Washington was the Jets’ MVP last season (mostly because of his kickoff returns), but he also has done a nice job in the backfield. He’s probably the most dynamic player on an offense that needs more of them. Now, with Chatman’s arrival, he must be wondering about his role. My advice, Leon: Don’t sweat it. Chatman, who signed only a one-year deal, is JAG - just another guy. He was out of football in 2006 and, in 14 games (six starts last season) for Miami, he rushed for 515 yards, a 4.0 average and one touchdown. The Jets, borrowing a page from the Giants’ depth chart, are building depth in the backfield. The Giants went through about 10 running backs last season (it seemed that way, anyway), and there was nary a dropoff as they overcame various injuries. And you’d have to say their season ended on a positive note, don’t you think? I know what you’re thinking: With Jones, Washington and Chatman, why would the Jets draft Darren McFadden? Believe me, Chatman, not even a lock to make the team, doesn’t change the landscape at the position. Do you think the Jets would pass on a game-changing runner like McFadden because of a journeyman like Jesse Chatman? Not a chance.
All this is, is a depth move and the guy is a great 3rd down back out of the backfield on the swing pass. Mcfadden is still coming, so alot of you can start crying again.
Exactly, if McFadden is the highest rated player on their board when 6 rolls around, they're gonna take him. The whole point is flexability. Jesse Chatman isn't a guy who changes draft strategy.
You're going beyond blind arrogance and annoyance into a pure McFadden troll. Why don't you calm down and admit even you don't know what is going to happen. I'm more of a Gholston fan, and I don't even know if the Jets will draft him or have the chance to. But i'm not counting my chickens so that when the time comes i'm not utterly dissapointed. I haven't seen you post anything other than "McFadden is coming" bullshit in the last month. That makes me think your a pure troll... And you've been here longer than i have.
Remember how everyone creamed themselves over TJones ripped bod last year, TJs gonner get 1200+ yards , etc... Well this year he will and Leon will get 400+ too , so why the hell do we need DMac? The next draft after this one will throw up another Peterson or DMac.
Cimini is wrong on Chatman he is no slouch and I promise you he will not be cut. Chatman is back that could start on the bottom ten teams in the league and is the best depth at rb the jets could ask for. This all be confirms the Jets will do the right thing and trade down. This way they can address WR, and CB the two biggest needs right now
Unless you have a crystal ball, you can't know that. The NFL doesn't guarentee success to any player, and because a player is projected to be a round 1 pick doesn't make them a lock for the HOF. You are telling me that no RB in draft '09 will be as good or better than DMac?
