    Joe Flacco

I know a couple of us on here have talked about getting Joe Flacco, but I hadn't seen anything that said the Jets were official looking. A local paper down here mentions the Jets have shown interest. I know first hand from going to Delaware's home games, his arm is just unreal!!!

<<Numerous mock drafts have Flacco going to the Chicago Bears in the second round, others to the Minnesota Vikings. The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins also have reportedly shown interest. Shula's presence demonstrates the Jaguars' curiosity. But all it takes is one team with an interest in a promising quarterback when its turn comes to pick.>>

I think it would require us trading out of the #6 with Dallas to get him or moving up from our 2nd round to get him. While I'm his biggest supporter on here, I just don't think it's wise to move up from the 2nd round and cost us a 2009 1st round pick (ala Cleveland) to get him.

I live in Delaware and have seen him play, he is a beast with such a great arm. I would love for him to be Jet.

I've been trying to think of some good options for the Jets so they could trade down in the first and end up with either early in Rd 2 or late in the first. I would be ecstatic to see him become a Jet, finally a QB with a strong arm to groom.

I wish we knew more or less how Clemens is gonna perform this season...it would defenitly put our draft scenarios more in perspective. Unfortunetly, I'm not a fortune-telling gypsy.

And I think the Jets feel the same way...which is why I can't see them drafting a QB higher than the 3rd round in 2008. They need to see what Clemens is gonna do for the team this year before they start talking about bringing in a new QB.

Having said all that....Flacco does have some intriguing intangibles....

lol....I'll have to take your word for it, my friend...I've only based my assessment on highlights and the combine....

but what i have seen is that he indeed has a cannon for an arm...and i wouldn't shed a tear if the Jets grabbed him without having to trade up to get him.

damn...i'm really looking forward to watching the draft this year...especially since the Jets have made all these moves to improve the team....but these next 2 months are going to "drag on".....stupid "waiting period" :shit:

How is his mobility though? I just don't see us taking him, it wouldn;t make a whole lot of sense at this point. Keep Giving KC some protection, we'll be contenders.

i HIGHLY doubt that we draft a QB this year so dont get your hopes up...we never really seen what Kellen Clemens could do with talent around him....he showed a lot of postive stuff last year but also with growing pains of course. I say this is his year, if he shows no improvement....we would draft a qb next year or in 2010 but i dont see us drafting a qb

With his stock rising as much as it has over the last month or so he could pop up in the late first round. We know it won't happen at the 6. Maybe if we trade down but we'd need a parter and a good enough package first. Highly unlikely.

No thanks. This team is being built to win soon. They aren't rebuilding and giving a project like Flacco 3 years to figure out how to be an NFL QB.

Using a top 2 rd pick on this guy would be a terrible move. It further complicates an already complicated QB situation, destroys Clemens' confidence and it's an opportunity lost for the Jets in regards to finding a big, fast WR, a game breaking RB or a top speed rusher.

Dude has some mobility too and he's 6'6. He's got the prototypical QB tools. I wouldn't mind him.

Just like using a top 2nd pick on Clemens was.

And at the time, they needed a young QB to groom as Chad's replacement. They don't need another one, especially before they know for sure what they have in Clemens. This is a make or break year for him. If he can't perform with this OL in front of him, in his 3rd year, then next year any calls for drafting another QB will be warranted.

We should be taking a QB every year until we actually have a proven good one and than keep taking them to groom the next one.

Yea, I'm a UD Student and I've seen almost every game the past two seasons. Flacco matured into an elite quarterback this past season. He eluded sacks and fit passes into windows that only an elite quarterback could. Granted that the rocket he has as an arm makes that alot easier. He has all the tools to be a great NFL QB, something Kellen and Chad both don't.

In the not too long ago past, I'd say the Jets would pass on this kid simply because we don't deal in franchise QB's but now? Given the massive upgrading and money spending, it would appear that this FO/CS not only wants to upgrade the line, but they just might surprise everybody and do something totally out of character like perhaps drafting their own version of Peyton Manning.

It does appear that tall, strong armed Qb's seem to be in vogue these days...
