I think the Jets are going to go CB in the 1st round (barring a trade down) Here's why: 1. Both Longs and Gholston will be gone. Gholston really raised his draft value in the combine as did mini-Howie, and the other Long is the best OT in the draft. 2. Dorsey looks like the person who is dropping out of the top 5 possibly. Neither he nor Ellis are really a fit for us now 3. None of the WR really warrant a first round pick as high as 6. Mayock thinks that none of the receivers are even first round grades on an absolute scale 4. I just do not see us taking McFadden even if he falls to us. He is a big risk and is not a Mangini guy. He is the best scenario for trading out of 6, but that is a long shot So that leaves CB as the likely BPA and best pick for need. So who is it? Leodis is right now the top rated guy, but the more I hear about Rodgers-Cromartie the more I think he could become special. In every area he seems to be solid and his Senior Bowl on field play and practice, and combine were superior. Right now my gut is telling me that Cromartie will be consensus #1 CB by draft day, and that we will pick him with our first pick. Thoughts?
We are in a very tough position at 6 right now. Its very possible that every palyer we would want could be gone and we will be forced into taking a guy that would be in the 10 to 25 range at #6. I don;t think Ellis or Dorsey fit our system. DMC is a talent for sure, but a flawed one who has other issues and could be gone. Gholston may be gone. That leaves us picking perhaps a CB, WR or someone else a bit higher than they were supposed to go and paying them a ton of $$ in the process. Why not? Its still an area of need. If the other options at 6 are gone I could see it.
i dont know much about mckelvin but cromartie has been beasting the past month or 2 and his brother seems to be a stud athlete i wouldnt be pissed if they took him but id rather trade down if we could.
If there was a way we could get both DRC and Mendenhall it would be a great, i hope the aggressiveness in free agency continues in the draft and we could find a way to get both of those players.I dont care how trade future picks, anything Something is special about both of them
All the experts say Gholston is overrated. McKelvin looks good and may be even better than Revis. I hope we get McFadden though as we need some impact players on offense. I can see us moving up to 4 if we really think Oakland will take him. Hell, we already got enough players in FA that the draft this year is secondary. A top RB is what we need right now with no great QB anywhere on the horizon.
Wow I don't see us drafting McFadden even if he is there at 4 and I REALLy do not see us trading UP for him.
no way the jets take a cornerback. The cornerback class this year is rather weak and nobody is worth the 6th overall selection, and especially the money they get. The jets will either draft gholston or mcfadden. Gholston is not out of the picture one bit. The jets seem high on him. The pace signing has people here thinking that gholston will not be picked, however, the jets could use major depth at OLB and if thomas doesn't perform, they could easily release him and have gholston take his place. I think McFadden is the guy. All this off the field crap is blown completely out of proportion. Coles had some off the field stuff before the draft and he turned out fine. And the whole "legs dead on contact" is horseshit. No running back can do what he did if his legs go dead on contact.
I think it is very possible that Gholston and McFadden will be there. Either way I am fully confident that one will be. The key is Kansas City. 1. Jake Long 2. Chris Long 3. Matt Ryan 4. Darren McFadden or Vernon Gholston 5. ??? Ryan Clady??
folks lets hope its mcfadden and dallas wants him. KC might make that trade our old buddy Herm. We then trade with dallas 22- 28 and maybe even something next year, We then use a 3 or something to move up a few spots get our reciever and get our corner. We then go for flacco in the 2nd rd , I think this kid is gonna be the real deal. ANYONE have an opionion on Ainge from Tennesee? \
Yeah . . . It really does look like Mangini wants another corner this year. He's a secondary coach and wants a jacked secondary. Poteat did fine opposite Revis and Miller was showing good improvement before he fucked up his hamstring. Despite these things the Jets have been spotted talking to secondary players at the combine and we've been pursuing defensive backs (along with everything else) in FA. It's why Drew Coleman has been kept around, too: Eric Mangini loves his defensive backs. A lot of people believe that you can never have too many pass rushers, and the Jets' coach seems to believe that you can never have enough defensive backs.
I wouldn't have a problem with another CB. Revis should be better this season and hopefully could help the rookie.
Cromartie is the guy I want if they decide to go CB in round 1, and at this point, with a trade down it seems almost like a likely decision.
Rodgers-Cromartie wouldn't help the team RIGHT AWAY. He has a ton of talent and potential, but he's not even close to being a finished product. I want to see some skill position players brought in: WR and RB mainly. If Chatman is signed, I hope we don't draft a running back unless someone with big time talent falls to the second day. Wideout is a big need. We have no depth at this position, and are "#1" receiver is acting like a woman at the moment.
I don't understand how some of ya'll try to play down Mcfadden who has been all Ncaa for three years running as a "bust' but try to talk like some player you didn't even know about a month and a half is a can't miss..... Put them in your avatars and what not, lol.
Rodgers-Cromartie is a beast. The previous post about him not being a finished product is accurate. He didn't get any big schools to look at him, but the kid is a ball hawk. I was at the Senior Bowl and he dominated.
If and only if the JETS did draft a corner in the first round it would have to be Cromartie. McKelvin just has STONE HANDS. But I would love it if they drafted Gholston in the first round and got Antoine Cason in the second.
