Adalius Thomas, who eveyone here wanted last year: 79 Tackles -6.5 sacks 2 FF age 30 Calvin Pace 98 Tackles-6.5 Sacks 1FF 1 INT age 27
Don't forget these stats too: Thomas-team: Pats Pace-team: Cardinals I feel a little better already, and the int shows he may have some coverage ability.
Adalius Thomas was a major disappointment, he did very little and afew of those sacks were garbage time sacks so it makes his #s look better. Thomas' #s in his FA year year were better and he was consistently better the previous few years BUT he had alot of help in Baltimore which Pace did not have in AZ. Thomas was the more proven player but Pace is younger nad hopefully coming into his own as a 3-4 OLB.
I wouldn't pay those stats too much attention- Pace only fell into the right position last season-up until then he wasn't being utilized properly.
Not to mention Pace isn't being brought here solely for his pass rush. He's gonna play strong side, where he needs to have versatile strengths within stuffing the run, pass coverage and than blitzing.
i hope you?re right. i?m slowly starting to feel better about the Pace signing. But i don?t see the point of the original post. Thomas averaged 9,33 sacks over tha last 3 years, when he hit the market, that?s why everybody wanted him and that?s why he got paid. Pace gets paid because we hope.
yea but thomas was on the ravens defense which was loaded. Pace was in Arizona not yet in the 3-4 when he put those numbers up. lets just see him play, hopefully he will do well.
You dont pay someone a huge deal like this based off "hope". Pace can play the game at a need for our team. In a scheme that is required to be versatile. Pace fits that mold. He is a good run stopper and coverage guy. He can also get to the QB on occasion, which is all that is asked from the position he will be playing. He got this money based off his versatility and the way he manages his OLB role. Not because of "hope".
not? why do i read the words "i hope" and "hopefully" in 80% of the posts about him? If we would have signed Thomas last season, i bet there would have been the words, "he will" instead of "hopefully" in the same posts.
be more concerned w/ The woody signing. 5 mill a year for a guy over 30, w/ weight problems who's gonna bee playing a position he's too short for..and has only played 5 games at.
Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. I doubt 1 interception is indicates in either direction whether or not he can drop into coverage
Exactly, I'm not sold on Woody playing RT, I hope we have plans when that experiment flops and he's shifted to RG. It will be the 2 most expensive guard pair in the league.
Last year.....Thomas has more sacks over 5 yrs but different situations. The Ravens were a 3-4 team when Thomas got those, the Cards just implemented it.
I think alot of people are concerned with this...he added depth to the Oline...but playing RT for 16 games is a huge worry for that contract IMO.
