This is from the bottom of today's Cimini article

CHAD MATH: If he returns, Chad Pennington will receive a bump in his '08 salary, from $4.8 million to $6 million. It's based on a clause in his contract that was renegotiated two years ago, when he took a pay cut. He's back to his original '08 salary, but his cap number balloons to $9.0 million, ridiculously high for a potential backup....With Woody projected to start at right tackle, the Jets released Anthony Clement, a two-year starter at the position....Jets signed former Titans CB Andre Woolfolk, a first-round pick in 2003 who was out of football last season....Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, giving his side of the ill-fated Dewayne Robertson trade, said in Cincinnati that it "had nothing to do with money," fueling speculation that the bone-on-bone condition in Robertson's left knee may have been a factor. That contradicted Robertson's agent, Hadley Engelhard, who said the trade was aborted because he couldn't agree to a new contract with the Bengals.

I see zero chance of Pennington getting paid any bonus. This talk of an "open qb competition" is nothing more than spin. Pennington will get traded or cut before his bonus will kick in.

That's not a bonus it's his salary and they should honor the renegotiated deal. Who will we get to compete w/ KC if Chad is gone? They have to bring back Chad.

Another JETS player who took a pay cut to benefit the team and then Will get stabbed in his ass when It's time to pay.

Becoming oh so common along with the JETS continually getting rid of all their best young players.

So Glad to see Woody finally spending Money but I guarantee, All the cheap shit is going to haunt us.

He took a pay cut because he was coming off an injury...and still hasn't performed up to his contract. Boo-frickin'-hoo.

You 100% Cannot do that, you cant go into camp with two unproven QB's after you have invested all of this money into your Offensive Line, that is a waist of all the money we just spent.

You can if you have a solid running game and a stout defense ala the 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers. Is it the ideal situation? Obviously not. But it may be the only choice we have.

Personally I still believe in Chad, and I believe our best chance still lies with him.

I also am the biggest Joe Flacco fan here. I still say we need to draft him if we can.

I'd be fine going into camp with KC, Trent Green, and a rookie if it means saving $6 million and not having to hear Chad apologists ever again.

Who exactly would you like to get? Pennington is better than every FA QB on the market

With our new O-line, we could bring back Vinny and keep his uniform clean.

So you'd rather actually have a Weaker QB position just so you won't have to "Hear" anything?

    Wow.

You left out the part about saving major dough on a washed up backup QB. And as long a Chad is here and competing for the starting spot, Kellen won't feel completely comfortable. I think that until Coles (not that I want him to go) and Chad are gone it will never completely be Kellen's team.

Chad will rise up and remind you of what you've forgotten in the ashes of a 4-12 season.

    You people have short memories.
