Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports free-agent LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (Bears) has visited with the New York Jets Monday evening and Tuesday morning. He said he has a four-year contract offer from the team. He's not visiting with the Ravens.
I live in Chi-town. Yes he is definitely good. And a quality guy in the locker room as well. It will be a coup if we get him.
Yea i know nothing about him but I like the idea of adding Pro-Bowl or future Pro-Bowl players. Faneca- 7 Pro-Bowls Jenkins- 3 Pro-Bowls Woody- 1 Pro Bowl Pace- Future Pro-Bowler Ayanbadejo- 1 Pro-Bowl Lets just add Sheppard via trade and were a big Tannenbaum draft away from taking the division.
i hope you?re right about Pace. I think woody made a probowl, too, when he was with the pats. now they gotta win games!
And we got rid of: JMac - Toilet Bowl Clarke - Toilet Bowl Clement - Toilet Bowl Dyson - Toilet Bowl Vilma - Defensive Rookie of the Year; a classy guy who just didn't fit into Mangini's 3-4.
The Raven's also offered Ayanbadejo a contract: Jets | Ayanbadejo visits team Wed, 5 Mar 2008 02:25:04 -0800 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports free-agent LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (Bears) has visited with the New York Jets. The Ravens are garbage, If we offer similar money, I think well definitely get him. But as Cimini has said, the only reason players play here is because of the money.
Actually, I read in the case of Woody, that he was offered equivalent money from another team, but what swayed him to the Jets was the way the Jets handled the Jamie Henderson motor cycle crash situation. They picked up his medical expenses and paid him his base salary when they didn't have to do anything.
I was being sarchastic because Cimini claimed on his blog yesterday that the only reason that Faneca would be sign with a 4-12 team with an unsettled qb situation is because of money. He completely ignored the fact that Faneca picked us over SF, Pace picked us over Miami and Jenkins was thrilled with our team's direction. Of course money matters, but it seems like players view us as a pretty attractive destination (for a change).
We don't really have a glaring need for Ayanbadejo except on ST. He's got Vilma's size for a linebacker position in the 3-4. If we sign him, it best only be for ST otherwise we should have just kept Vilma.
SF and Miami sucked even more than we did last season and Jenkins was probably more thrilled about getting out of Carolina than joining us. ...just saying.
Only reason players play anywhere is because of money. Some players might prefer one city over another, but it is very rare that a player will turn down significantly more money to not play for a certain team.
i was wondering something similar to this... not that i think the Ravens are garbage, but do you think that someone like Ayanbadejo - and other FA's - see the Jets improving with these signings and think that maybe we have a chance to be competitive, which would lead to more guys wanting to come here. i understand most players go where they'll get paid, but no one enjoys losing.
This would be a very good signing. Chicago's Special Teams was outstanding last year. If they can get the captain of that squad to sign here, we would upgrade the blocking/coverage units. I am sure Miller and Washington love the sound of that.
