Your correct, and lets remember that the cap will rise again in 09, because the NFL will never ever have a "down year." I expect it to be somewhere near 125M next year.

I will however not pass judgment on Pace because I've never seen him play, and I dont know what he is going to bring to the team.

I have to remember we are the JETS, which means not everything is a good as it seems.

I think this is way too much money. That said, where are the Woody is cheap people?

Crickets in the daytime. An interesting development.

Woody is cheap and he is panic riden about having the worst team in the division and sharing a new stadium with the SB champs. All good stuff from my point of view. Nothing motivates a cheap owner like the prospect of lossing money going into new digs. If your not a season ticket holder this is great stuff.

This deal isn't too bad as long as it includes the helicopter tour, otherwise we paid way too much for the next Bryan Thomas.

Adding McFadden now would be the Pi?ce de r?sistance after stacking the OL, because it is a team sport. If they had the same OL, it wouldn't make any sense but now it makes perfect sense, especially after signing Pace to lessen the need for Gholston.

I'm not saying that's what I'd like to see but I can see the logic developing in taking McFadden. The Jets biggest need right now is offensive playmakers.

Right now the biggest need is a shut down CB across from Revis. This team is being built to stuff teams, beat them up and wear them out.

    Cap

Let's not jump to any conclusions, remember the so-called $20M guaranteed for Jenkins that turned out to be less than $10M. Let's wait a week and see all the real numbers before we pass judgement.

Either way, we've gotten some real players over the last few days and this season should be fun, if we can stay relatively healthy.

I guess that means we will go for the PSL selling option of picking McFadden rather than the team building option of trading down with Dallas.

Damn, we are becoming the Redskins.

Hells yes! Something clicked, tangini is kicking ass this offseason. A BIG season is on the horizon. Jenkins, Faneca, Woody, and now Pace. All of a sudden we have a line, a pass rush, and can stop the run. I say just keep it up with the FA signing, go after a WR now.

All we need is one more solid acquisition, and we can go into this draft feeling very good about getting the best players available.

I agree. I'd like to see one solid player in the secondary, preferably at safety. We're really close. The talent level on this team is much, much better already than last year.

Honestly I do not see why Pace's 6.5 sack season (his best year) also on his total of 14 sacks over FIVE years in the league, is worth 42 million with a 20 million dollar signing bonus, and at least 22 mill, of it garunteed.

Some of you people really need to starting watching other teams. Pace is a better player than Thomas.

He proved he could play at a high level last year. I thought he was about the 8th best outside linebacker in the league last year. The other seven are all recognizable names such as Merriman and Sims and Bulluck.
If the Jets stay at 6, they're going to give a lot of money to a completely unproven player. Will you complain about that, too?

Maybe we still are the Jetskins.

Because this sure is a Dan Snyder offseason.

I'm stunned man. They aren't signing depth and special teamers as their "big move"

    They're really doing...BIG MOVES.

I like the move. We really needed a pass rushing specialist. Yeah, he's only had one good year, but so did James Farrior when he hit free agency. Farrior went on to have a bunch of good years for the Steelers. I think he's comfortable in the 3-4 and will do great work for us.

Pace is not a pass rushing specialist, if that is what you are saying in the sentence I bolded. Pace is not what I'd call a designated pass rusher.
He was very, very good against the run last year. With Pace and Harris, the Jets are going to have two linebackers who are very good in pursuit.
