Oh get out of here... Mcfadden is gonna be there and he's the pick... Enough of this overrating this Gholston.
i?m pissed we lost out on the pace race, but 22 million guaranteed to briggs 16 million, either briggs needs a new agent or someone really overpaid
This is coming from a guy who has watched every game that Gholston has played in. I know he is not all he is hyped up to be. Not sarcasm in the least. He is not worth being taken in the top 10.. Not even top 20. Gholston will be good but he is not what everyone is hyping him up to be. I could go into his flaws but it is pointless now. Atleast in my mind now, with this signing.
Pace could be a stud, I like this signing a lot. Does this mean the Jets won't draft Gholston? I'm starting to think no. I don't know if Pace is better suited to the strong-side or weak-side. Either way, at 6'4, 272 pounds he has absolutely perfect size for an OLB. I am definitely expecting a trade-down now personally. The Jets will address WR via the draft, that much is certain. Keep rocking Tannenbaum.
This is true....however it was well known that Pace was out for 20mil in guarantee's shouldn't be to far off though. We can't let the Pats get Gholston...we CANT!
http://www.dolphinsnation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213428 You can feel the pain on this one. Talk about bitter.
BOOOOOOYAH! This has been one of the best offseasons I can remember as a Jets fan. First Jenkins, then the Vilma trade, then Faneca, then the DRob trade (hopefully) now this. If we get Damien Woody that leaves us free to do whatever we want in this draft. Also, if we get some lower marquee signings like Tony Richardson at fullback, we'd be absolutely set. We would then have the freedom to trade down if we wanted in the first round to start grabbing up rookies.
Wow, I realize this is a positive move from a talent prespective I just hope we don't end up in cap trouble a year or two down the road...
I still am surprised he got one of the biggest LB contracts in NFL HISTORY, and he's only been a starter for one year. Still, I'm happy, because he had a great year last year and think he's gonna be great for us.
Because he's never come close to the numbers he put up last year, coincidentally in his contract year. For that you give him $20M guaranteed? And his numbers weren't even off the charts with just 6.5 sacks. Hey, I hope like hell that he's worth every penny but there's no question that they overpaid based on his history.
There might not be a cap a year or two down the road. Even if there is it will undoubtbly continue to rise each year as it has the past couple years. I think the FO is realizing that the days of cap hell are pretty much over..
The other reason why I like this move is because Tuna really wanted Pace. If he wants a guy, they're most likely worth it. Tuna has as good an eye for talent as anyone.
The cap is on the verge of being obsolete. These contracts will look quite normal in 2 years. Until the Jets say they are in cap trouble, just be happy that your team is finally improving itself through free agency.
we got no gamebreakers on offense this team is so dumb wasting all this $$ when we got no gamebreakers i bet they would pass mcfadden at #6 for another fat sweaty 330 lb bust
When free agency first came about in the mid 90s we were the original big spenders, it just never worked.
