obviously 4-12 generaly means u suck, but after seeing this, 2007 results Date Opponent Result 09/09/07 New England 14-38 09/16/07 at Baltimore 13-20 09/23/07 Miami 31-28 09/30/07 at Buffalo 14-17 10/07/07 at NY Giants 24-35 10/14/07 Philadelphia 9-16 10/21/07 at Cincinnati 31-38 10/28/07 Buffalo 3-13 11/04/07 Washington 20-23 (OT) 11/18/07 Pittsburgh 19-16 (OT) 11/22/07 at Dallas 3-34 12/02/07 at Miami 40-13 12/09/07 Cleveland 18-24 12/16/07 at New England 10-20 12/23/07 at Tennessee 6-10 12/30/07 Kansas City 13-10 (OT i think we were better than our 4-12 record would indicate, w/the exception of the week 1 game, and the dallas game, we were in every other game w/a chance to win em, i truly believe that w/the addition of jenkins and fanaca we r closer, and were not done yet
you can't be better than your 4-12 record. it has been said before -- you are what your record is. there just is no interpretation in that. 4-12 is 4-12, no matter how many close games you play in. the difference is that the close games indicate we may be closer to improvement than farther away from it.
We are definitely better than people think. Sometimes the record doesn't tell the whole story. Upgrading our run defense and upgrading our ability to run the ball will lead to the playoffs.
We had a lot of unlucky breaks last year and were overall probably better than our record. However, thus is football, and I'd rather have all the misfortune in the world during a bad year if it means saving all the good luck for a SB run. The close scores mean that with a few new key pieces in place that those losses could turn into wins this coming year.
Yes, we were really that bad last year..... Outside of one or two revelations, our offense was abysmal. All of the games where it looks like we scored a respectable amount of points (MIA, @NYG, @CIN, MIA) we had at least one big play on D or STs that led directly to an easy score.... We STILL only went 2-2 in those games, with both wins being against a 1-15 ball club..... I don't care about how it 'looks' on paper, we were terrible. Anyone who watched the games can attest to that. We looked good in one game (Pittsburgh)- notably the game that came directly after our bye week. We were ill-prepared and/or overmatched in every other game against a team not named Miami....
I thought they were every bit as bad as the record suggests, though i think/hope they will be better next season. throw out the crap about the close games- the team looked awful for the most part even when they were just barely managing to hang around and keep it within shouting distance. they couldnt run left at all, couldnt put a lot of points on the board, couldnt pressure or sack the QB-- all in all, yes, they were a bad team last season.
you know what's interesting, when it comes to the Jets you will hear the "experts" say hey you are what your record says you are when the Jets are 4-12, but when they are 10-6 they are overrated. Even after that Chargers victory many thought we were overrated. Just wanted to point that out.
Lets scratch off the 2 L's 2 NE and Dallas... We were just not ready to play those weeks, and got blown out, in those 2 L's we lost by a combined 64 points... Couldnt stop the run, and couldnt run the ball... Lets see how Faneca and Jenkins improve those aspects of football next year. In our 10 other losses... We lost by a combined, 60 points.... Thats it... 60 Points... Thats an average of 6 Pts per game. Thats 6 pts per game... With a first year starter in Kellen Clemens who was thrown into the fire with not enough time to work with the 1st sting in TC and Preseason With a rookie MLB in D.Harris who was thrown into the fire when Vilma went down A Rookie CB in Revis who had NO HELP on the opposite side playing as our #1 CB for the whole year A NT in Robertson who could NEVER hold his own and plug the holes... Robertson is built for the 4-3... His body is simply a 4-3 DT and he was trying to play the role of a 3-4 NT... Wasnt working We had an O-Line who struggled to run the ball... Montgomery as our LG? Are you kidding me? Lets not blame injurys, but Coles was banged up. I mean... 6 pts a game? This is a playoff team next year, hands down
We had a rookie QB(1st year of true playing time) in for alot of the games, along with 2-3 rookie starters on D. Add that we played a division that had 2 10 game winners in the AFC Central and 3 playoff team including the SB team in the NFC East. We also played playoff team Tenn. Now you look at the schedule this year......We play in what looks to be a mediocre NFC West and the worst AFC division in the AFC West. We get Tenn again(Barely lost to them but they still have a sick D) and play Cincinatti who we should have beat.
Last season, our team was boring on both sides of the ball. We couldn't move the ball with any consistency (Don't get me started on short yardage situations) and we couldn't stop anybody consistently. We were a bad football team that got dominated in the trenches. Hopefully, this year will be different.
I do agree with you on that. We wre garbage in the trenches... This year with Faneca and Jenkins, I think we will make a complete 360
We were 4-12 so we were pathetically bad obviously, BUT theres no denying we weren't an easy opponent. I think just going by the fact that this team never rolled over and died (except maybe the Dallas game) kind of shows we weren't the "ZOMG the sky is falling" bad some tried to portray us as.
Last year reminded me a lot of 1995. We lost both openers in blowouts where we were clearly outclassed and we got blown out on the road once later on in the season. Other than that we were in a lot of games and lost them with bad second half play. We couldn't run well and we couldn't stop the run so we had no control of events in either season. This year we'll either bounce back or we'll go 3-13 or so and start the next regime.
terrible record the way they played was awful 26th in total yards per game----we cheered every time they made a first down 25th in passing yards per game-----most passes were the dink and dunks for 3 yards 29th worst team in giving up sacks--who ever the qb is he cant throw on his back 29th in rushing defense ----every team just ran us into the ground 25th in sacks ---the other team had so much time to throw these are the stats to look at to see if a team is good or bad w-l record can be changed on a tipped pass-bad call by the refs when your team is 26th in offense they are BADDDDDDDDDDDDDD
No , We werent terrible we were in just about every game we played but winning is winning and we only managed to win 4 out of 12 games so Tangini is doing a good job at making us a better team i like it so far.
