Lets go out and sign S.Olivia for our RT position, that would also free up an early draft pick for a skilled position, either WR or CB instead of using our 5th pick in the 2nd round on a RT.

We all know what Faneca brings to the table, a run blocking animal and a great pass blocker.... Not only does he improve the LG position, replacing Montgomery, but he also improves Ferguson and Mangold. Mangold played like a proven veteran his rookie season playing alongside P.Kendall, wait till we see Mangold in his 3rd year as a starter next to a 7 time pro bowler, freakish... We also drafted Ferguson with the 4th overall pick in the 1st round to be a franchise LT, playing next to Faneca, he now has his chance. Thomas Jones, Leon Washington, Kellen Clemens, Ferguson and Mangold are all excited right about now.

With all that said... Its time to sign S.Olivia to replace Clement. Imigane, in one offseason... K.Jenkins replacing D.Robertson as out NT in the 3-4, D.Harris replacing J.Vilma in the 3-4 as our #1 IMLB, A.Faneca replacing Montgomery as our starting LG and S.Olivia replacing Clement as our starting RT... Even if we dont sign Olivia, I will still be one happy fucking Jets fan, but I can only imagine...

    D'Ferguson - A.Faneca - N.Mangold - B.Moore - S.Olivia

I think we can fill the rest of our needs on the offensive line with the draft. I think we are all capped out till we get rid of D-ROb. What a great offseason so far..I am psyched for the season to start and we still have 6 months to go...

Woody will probably be signed, but Olivea might be the backup option for RT.

Shane OlivEA will do wonders for the Line, but i think we are going after Damien Woody because he can play RG,C,LG,and RT- so if anyone goes down he can replace them.. and we'll probably keep Clement as a backup-- he's good enough for that.

We do need to make one more move, we must fix the RT problem. Woody or Olivea as short term solutions and a 2nd round choice for a long term solution would be nice.

Yeah Olivea or Woody would be nice. But in my opinion, great offensive lines are built through drafts, and I think we shouldn't stop at FA. I would like to draft 2 OL in the draft to provide quality depth.

I think if we're really serious about solidifying this line, we pick up Jake Long. The pass rush goes deep this year, folks. Plenty of good edge rushers in the second round.

no way they sign both. that will be too much money for one position. i have a feeling if the jets were to sign one of them it will be olivea, making clement the backup. and clement would actually be a pretty good backup.

They won't sign both, Olivea is the backup option if Woody (their main target) doesn't sign.

no way. that would be terrible IMO. First of all, he probably won't be there. No way he goes past the chiefs. Second of all, there are much more pressing needs than a RT. I agree that there are a lot of pass rushers, but then why not get the very best one? i'm talking of course about gholston. I would rather get gholston or mcfadden in the first and carl nicks in the second round than jake long and whoever is there in the second.

I know Woody can play alot of positions on the O-Line... But who is the better PURE RT? And I repeat RT?

Who knows. Olivea was, but took a step down last year. Woody played RT a lot for the first time last year and was very good. Pretty hard to say.

But the Jets like Woody, they're going to bring him in for a visit. Haven't heard that about Olivea yet.

article posted in another thread, but mentions this about the RT position:

But the Jets aren’t finished in free agency just yet. They are in the process of arranging a visit for Detroit free-agent offensive lineman Damien Woody, who could man the right tackle position for the Jets. Woody played in New England in 1999, when the Patriots quality control coach was Eric Mangini, now the New York Jets head coach.

I also think Woody is going to be the main target altough I probably like Olivea more as a main RT and he's a lot younger. If they are going to go with Woody then they will need to use the 2nd round pick for a RT most likely
