http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2008/03/free-agency-news-and-notes.html Involving: Randall Gay CB, Calvin Pace OLB, and Shane Olivea RT
I would love to sign Pace and Draft Gholston. J.Miller-A.Elam-D.Revis-K.Rhodes Gholston-Barton-Harris-Pace Coleman-Jenkins-Ellis
Gonna be interesting to see what happens with today's visit with Pace. I feel real confident that the Jets can sell Pace on the idea of playing for a young team that will be competing in 08- as compared to Miami
I'm just glad to see such a proactive effort from the front office on the first day of Free Agency. Addressing the immediate needs we have on the DL and moving towards securing the OL with the very possible Faneca deal will greatly improve our chances in the coming season.
Hear, hear! It's really nice to see the organization taking the free agency period serioulsy. I'm really excited for the upcoming season now...
Thanks Woody for spending the money I give you every year. I appreciate the effort. More to come I hope. Now "FU" in advance of the PSL's
Olivea omg please get it done. I can't watch Anthony Clement anymore, he's built like a top flight lineman but he's just not getting it done.
Jets Interested In Gay and Olivea I did a quick search for another thread on this and couldn't find one. Here's the link: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2008/03/free-agency-news-and-notes.html
Actually I think this was posted, but it deserves it's own thread. I would like to add Olivea over Woody. He is a bit younger and has the potential to be a good RT. Gay would be nice Depth and potentially good #2 CB.
I pulled an Adam Scheftler earlier today and posted Cimini's article. I'm sure it will be merged, no worries.
Yeah, Gay doesn't surprise him. He fits the system and is well known by Mangini. We should have gotten him last year. I like Olivea of the reasons KellenandtheJets said
Olivea has supposedly "lost his fire" after signing a big deal in San Diego a year ago. He was dominant early in his career, but if someone can motivate him (Mangini or Callahan?) he can probably get back to form. He's still fairly yong.
Im all for signing Gay... I have hope that J.Miller can turn into a solid #2 CB, but having Gay @#2 with J.Miller as our Nickel back aint really all that bad with Revis as our #1 and Rhodes as our playmaking safety
if we sign Gay, then there's no reason to fear any injury in the Secondary; especially if Miller stays healthy and is ready to mentally progress. when you're not worried about injury to a position because of your depth, that's the sign of a strong team.
