I am seriously hoping that we do not end up trading Dwayne to the Lions or Broncos or any other team... unless we can get a VERY favorable deal, its just not worth it. Yes, we're going to get Jenkins so our NT problem is "solved".. HOWEVER, what if jenkins goes down? and even if he does work out extremely well, he's going to needed some breaks. Also, D-Rob may be very effective as a DE in our system. Imagine what our line can do with him and Jenkins anchoring it with some pashrushers on the outside? Either way.. D-rob is very versatile and i think that if he restructures we should definitely hold on to him this season as he can be a huge help to us. Yes, he hasn't performed up that that #4 pick.. but he also has never really been put in a position to succeed by Mangini.. lets put him in a situation where he can flourish and take advantage of his talents because no matter what anyone says.. he is still extremely hard working and talented.

Trade him, keep him whatever, but get rid of that awful cap number of 13 million, he is not that level of player

Yes let's have an under-performing player who really doesn't have a role on this team now since Jenkins is here, unless you want to kick him out to end.

DRob could maybe net the 3rd round pick that we used for Jenkins...POSSIBLY could get a 2nd round pick, but unlikely.

I'm sick of seeing him in Green...

I agree with the OP. The Jets should seriously work on restructuring DeWayne's contract. One thing you can't question is the fact that he works hard and plays hard, even if he isn't always as effective as we liked.

I think he'd do very well as a DE in this system, and like the OP pointed out, we need options other than Pouha if Jenkins were to get hurt.

Trade his ass...we need to get a pick back. WE have a good two man rotation at NT now...

The name of the game is versatility... If we move him to DE, but he can also play downs at DT it provides a ton of value for us. Same sort of concept as with O-linemen that can play multiple positions, except that it's rare on the D-line. I'm sure there could be downs where we essentially play a 4-3 with D-Rob and Jenkins on the inside flanked by ellis and coleman (or ghoulston) too... which sounds pretty sweet to me.

Don't be so naive...don't you think Mangini has thought about this already? Hell he probably played some downs at DE last season and may have even gotten some practice time at 3-4 DE.

Robertson doesn't work in the 3-4. We tried to make it work for 2 seasons. That is enough and the Jets agree.

He's kind of short for DE, no?

D-Rob had almost 60 tackles last year and four sacks, nearly double the production of Jenkins. I think if the financials make sense, it would be worth keeping him...

The financials make zero sense. He has a cap number of nearly 10 million dollars this upcoming season.

We should get what we can for him and it is most likely that we get nothing because he is going to get cut anyhow. His cap number is 11M and we save 6M by getting rid of him. The only incentive for someone to trade for him is that they get to 'try him out' for a year a 6M before deciding to commit to him.

Secondly, he wants out and he won't restructure. He knows if he gets cut he will get a big payday as an FA and we are certainly not going to restructure a big payday for him just to try him as a DE. If we wanted him as a DE we would have given him some snaps there last year when Pouha was in the middle.

in pure stats drob doubles jenkins' tackles

his stats overall seem much better, but I hear NT is about plugging up a hole for others, so well see

I'd like to see him stay and play end, but that cap number is just disgustingly high. He should really do the right thing and re-structure.
