Jenkins seems to have the right skillset for the position with the way he's played the last 2 years. He's gone from being more of a rush-the-passer DT to being an eat-as-many-guys-on-the-OL DT, which is EXACTLY what a 3-4 NT is. He's got the size and strength as well.

Nothing official has been announced yet. But because of Vilma's injury, it is a conditional pick with NO. The better he performs the higher the pick. (I hear it is a 4th minimum, but gets better with performance). So it is next years draft.

Honestly with his injury, this is the best case scenario.

I was reading one of the Carolina message boards and someone posted that last year they turned down a 2nd round pick for Jenkins. So a third and a fifth is better then giving up a 2nd. I wonder if talking to Detroit about Rogers drove down Carolinas asking price.

I thought that Kendall trade paid off THIS year? Damnit! Now, that 4th pick we get next year was based on his performance/playing time this past season, right? Cause this be some bullshit if he gets injured next year and it effects that pick.

Don't worry, it's only based on his 07 season. That picks locked in stone.

With that trade and the Vilma one, we should have a few nice extra picks next draft.

Why would you be sick? What did you expect a team to just hand over a 2nd rounder this year for a player coming off a major knee injury?

    Jenkins A Jet!!!

Jets acquired Kris Jenkins for third- and fifth-round picks in the 2008 draft.

Both FoxSports and ESPN has confirmed the news. It remains uncertain if the Jets will restructure Jenkins' contract. New York is taking a risk, and has been surprisingly willing to give up picks in the Mangini era, but Jenkins should fit their scheme well and replace Dewayne Robertson.

I rather have the pick this year, just leaves a bad taste In my mouth because I know he'll dominate over there and all we got was a 3rd

What the heck did you expect? He's been medicore the past two seasons and coming off a major knee surgery.

    QFT.

Jenkins hasn't been all that good the past couple years.

I do think he could make a pretty good 3-4 end though...he's got the length, pass rush ability, and he's strong enough to command a double team.

Still...a 3rd and a 5th seems like alot for a guy who balloons in weight at times and hasn't played as well as he has in the past.

Maybe they could have given a 20th rounder for a guy whose played in 3 Pro Bowls, at a position where the Jets are weakest (along with G) at.

Maybe he hasn't been the All-Pro he once was, but to say that he hasn't been all that good is just flat out wrong. He's still a very, very good player.
