    This may calm everyone down.

    Let's talk metaphors...

The Jets were once in the plumbing business.

Vilma was a Plumber... a GREAT plumber, but a plumber.

The Jets, once in the plumbing business, decided 2 years ago to become electricians.

FACT: For better or worse, Jets, inc. is going to REMAIN a company of electricians for the foreseeable future.

While some great plumbers go on to become great electricians, Vilma turned out to be a Plumbing SPECIALIST, with few skills in electrical work.

Vilma the plumber struggled in his new role with the company.

Better to trade him to another plumbing company where he can potential flourish, and you can at least get compensation, than to keep an unhappy plumber who can't do the job.

In all fairness, he never SAID he was an electrician.

While we may not not the switch the electricians, acceptance leads us to say 'It sucks... he was the best plumber in our company, but it is what it is, and for better or worse you need personnel that can do the specific job that you need done.'

    Hope this helps a little...

Good metaphor. And in all fairness, Vilma tried really hard to be an electrician. The man spent hours studying Tedy Bruschi, a master electrician. But he's a plumber.

Plumb on, Mr. Vilma. Plumb on.

Are you kidding? He has only been in the league a few years, what the hell are you talking about?

Pro Bowl alternate as a rookie, and a pretty good season in a 3-4 system that he isn't suited for when it was his first year learning that system, than an injury this year. Look at his stats before you make a comment about his performance. Just because you don't hear his name a lot during a game or see his highlights on TV that night makes you think he plays bad, because you don't understand how the game works.

You probably think John Lynch is the best safety in the game because he makes the Pro Bowl every year, right? Give me a break.

    ARE YOU PHUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A conditional pick in 2009 from the Saints...that's the best we could get for Vilma.

    THAT IS TERRIBLE.

Any reply isn't going to make sense for this trade so please let me scream....

    PHUCK!!!

I know he was unhappy, but where did Tannenbaum go to school, McDonald's?

I can't wait until this time next year, when we have two 1st or two 2nd round picks, and everyone is praising the team for making this Vilma trade.

A great man once said "You can please some of the people all the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can never please a Jets fan at all 'cause they're Jersey retards."

    Abraham Lincoln. Amazing foresight.

I was looking forward to see how Vilma's play would've adapted playing ALONGSIDE Harris, with some more beef up front.

Hopefully the condition of the trade has a high ceiling based on playing time & performance.

.. has anyone sampled the feedback from the Saints fans in any of these many threads?? I did not see that as yet. My guess is that Saints fans are very excited about this trade. I really wish him a lot of success down there.

i think the problem is our 3-4 is shit.
I'd rather they abandon the idea, and get more creative on D based off personnel they have. The Raiders, Balt, and NE have all adapted based on their personnel. Mangini doesn't have years to pull this out.
He's made his bed. If he doesn't start delivering, all these moves will lead to this forum calling for his head.

I think we're past that point now. DT was really holding this defense back, and now it appears we've filled that hole. Now we just need a speed rusher on the outside and this defense has top 10 potential.

You said it bro. Not to mention next season when we have a 350 lb. monster in the middle of our D allowing our LB's to actually get to the QB.

Vilma, I loved you man and I wish it could have worked out better in the 3-4 here. I'm glad you're going to the Saints though, as they're in the NFC and I actually don't mind them. I hope you have a great career there.

If that happens from...say Vilma snagging 140 tackles in their 4-3 against their opponents, I will GLADLY admit my comment being crazy.

and JCotch...that's weird because Abraham Lincoln died in 1865. Do yourself a favor, before throwing in some quote you have saved on your clipboard, go read April 1865, The Month That Saved America. Read that before the draft. On the day of the draft, go to a bar in which I will name in Manhattan as we pull for Gholston. Only right before we pick, I'm going to dump a beer over your fat head and throw you out of the bar.

A conditional pick is risky as hell with Vilma coming off of an injury to the knee. He won't be using his knee too much at LB.

If you're married, I hope your wife buys a 64 foot Viking on your credit card...but doesn't allow you to fish off of it.

By the sounds of it, we get a 4th even if he never plays a down as a Saint, which can upgrade up to possibly a first if the man makes the Pro Bowl. I don't see how anyone could not like that deal if true. It's fair for both sides.

Don't forget that Falcons fans thought they fleeced us 10 times over for John Abraham and now we have one of the top young centers in the game and they have ziltch. Don't go by another fanbase for your opinion.

I think alot of people are disapointed because we didn't get anything NOW. I can't evaluate the trade until next year but lets be honest I think we were all hoping to get something this year because if Mangini has another year like this year there is a chance next year could be a rebuilding year ...... again.

They would have robbed us if we played 4-3 , but we don't and now next year we can draft or use the comp pick to trade and get someone in in a position of need.

I can understand that. And as someone who's into the draft, I know that this years draft will likely be a lot deeper than next year's draft unless if something radical happens. However, I also have confidence that Vilma will do well there and we'll see a good payday next year.

Hopefully we can get the 3rd back for D-Rob or someone to help our immediate situation.

Or Vilma knee doesn't hold up and we get a mid rounder, I am sorry but I can't get too excited for a conditional
