agreedddd...him and jenkins would have a nice size line and coleman too...but where does sean ellis fit in here?
I think hes gone. The Jets are proably convinced at this point that hes not much of a player, regardless of the scheme. Tannenbaum will do everything in his power to get rid of him and his giant contract. Hell probably spend some time figuring out what Robertsons value is and then hell trade him somewhere for a 3rd round pick.- Some lost franchise will buy the argument that Robertson is a big time player just waiting to shine in a 4-3 scheme.
Ellis will still be here at DE, he had 5 sacks last year as a 3-4 DE on a awful line... he can also play OLB at times... if we can move DRob, the Jenkins acquisition looks genius.
I think the Jets will try to move him to recoup the picks lost in the Jenkins deal. Would be VERY interesting if he sticks around next season though. Bad business under his current contract, but if restructured it would be interesting to see how he performs at DE with Jenkins in the middle.
I guess its still possible they trade Vilma straight up for Rogers- That could explain why Vilma was taking a physical in Detroit. Then I guess they could draft Gholston and play him at linebacker. They could then sign Pace and Samuel and draft another linebacker in round 2. Every unit on their defense would be above average. I guess its probably unrealistic to expect them to sign both Pace and Samuel. But considering we almost have Faneca and Jenkins, might as well aim high and hope Tannenbaum completes the best off-season in franchise history by following it up by signing Pace and Samuel.
I'd Make him Lose 15lbs. and Line him up next to Jenkinss in the 3-4. He's Quick now Imagine being Lighter? I think he'd be a decent 3-4 DE if he lost a few lbs. cause he'd help against the run also. jmo
As a starter.... If Robertson isn't traded, but instead moved to DE, you'd better believe he's going after Coleman's job, not Ellis'
a major restructure and then move hime to DE. he played en late last season and did a good job in a short time
agree with restructure and move to DE. The guy is a sure tackler has side and speed - just not NT size. Other choice is to trade him for a third rd pick. Having him change position again though isn't really what i want to see....what like to see a pick for him.
Whether we get picks for DRob or he stays/restructures and is moved to end, I see this as a good move. DRob is still a force, but just not in the middle. Personally, If DRob stays and Run DMC is available at 6, I think we take him provided we already have reeled in a quality offensive lineman. If we trade DRob and Gholston is available at 6, then I think we will definitely take Gholston or now the door is open to possibly take Ellis. We could have Ellis Jenkins Ellis. If they start to be a sack/run stopping force then we could be looking at the awakening of the "Twin Powers".
Jets know DROB is nothing special. Theyll do everything they can to trade him and get rid of his contract.
Move to DE, let Shaun Ellis retire early or take a pay cut. Ellis comes up big in clutch situations, but not much of anything the rest of the time. He doesn't earn the pay he is currently getting. Kenyon Coleman proved last season that he is a very good 3-4 DE. We put in Ellis or Bowens (yes, he lined up at DE sometimes) in for passing situations, call it a day.
