They keep saying the best thing about him is his run defense and ability to occupy blockers.

Do they even know what system we run? That's exactly what we're looking for.

It'd be easier for Jenkins than it was for D-Rob. Jenkins already has great size and is good at playing the run and occupying blockers. That's basically his primary job now. His athleticism and pass-rushing ability tells me he could probably play DE in the 3-4, but he'll be great as a NT.

I think the jets showed last year that they are not necessarily interested in accumulating picks --they do not mind trading multiple picks for one good, or great talent. Personally I like that. They need a few studs.

Exactly, we're taught the more picks, the better. Frankly, I think it's bullshit. Is it nice to have extra picks? certainly. But it isn't a matter of how many picks you have, it's a matter of what kind of players you draft. How many times have the Lions/Cardinals have top picks in the draft. Neither of those teams have improved. Last year, we draft two people on day 1. Revis, and Harris. Alot of us, including myself were not very happy about it. Look what the hell we knew. Our two picks turned out to be some of the best rookies in the NFL, and Revis, really was one of the best Corners in the league. Harris, in his time, produced awesome numbers.

    two picks.
I recall having 4 First round picks not too long ago. We didn't benefit much then, did we?

Draft the right guys, with the picks you have, and don't worry about the picks you gave up.

I've watch Jenkins play here in Charlotte and he is a beast....people need to stop bitching about a lowsy 3rd and 5th rounder we gave up for a all pro DL.....He makes our run D 100 times better than last year!!!! I'm at work now and Panthers fans are pissed about just getting a 3rd & 5th...Its soooooo funny!!!

OH MY GOD! A third and a fifth?!!! THIS IS TERRIBLE!!!

So what if he's one of the best DT's in the game?! So what if NT was a glaring need?!

We need our third and fifth round picks!! Anthony Schlegel and Jason Pociask are the bedrock of our foundation!! And we DEFINITELY would have picked up the next Tom Brady and Vince Wilfork with those picks!

    Heaven help us!

I don't see why people are upset. Jenkins fills the biggest void this team has had since Jason Ferg. left for dallas. DRob was serviceable at NT, but he is out of position and that is why Vilma was invisible in the defense the last two years. Jenkins makes us a better team the second he is signed where a 3rd and 5th get us what a special teams player and maybe a guy that makes the roster in the first year?

What people don't realize is that not only did we lock up a potentially awesome NT but he only gets paid 3M/yr in the next two years. When you consider what the Raiders just gave Kelly, financially it was a super steal.

2 DEs that made the probowl, a quality starting QB (before the injuries)..... and big TE with stone hands.

3/4 ain't too bad (although I bet Thomas Jones wishes Becht was still on the team)

Honestly, this is the best part of the deal. We have a 2-year trial on one of the best DT's in the league. If he was on the free-agent market, he'd be getting 7 years 70 million with 25 million in guarantees. We may have to pay that eventually, but for 2 years, at least, we have the chance to evaluate him.

3rd and 5th don't bother me that much. We haven't hit on a 3rd rounder in years (McKenzie is the last good one I can remember, though E. Smith may improve enough to change my mind) and 5th rounders are usually projects/special teamers (I honestly can't remember the last good one we took). Sure, it hampers our ability to move up, but at least we keep our 4th (we've hit on a lot of those), and we can still move down easily.

I trust Mangini to know his system better than some hillbilly that's planning to marry his cousin this weekend!

Some of you guys are such whiny bitches. You guys complain more than a woman complains when they don't have her shoe size.

This is a beautiful thing. We filled a need with a big name player and after the Vilma trade we are in about the same shape cap wise which gives us an opportunity to spend on other big name free agents. I love this move the man is a beast and improves our D immediately,

His pass rushing abilities don't seem to be what they used to be. Jenkins has the perfect size for a 3-4 NT.
