now that we have seen him play more, is this skinny tackle from uva a future star who will fill out his frame and become an elite tackle? Will he improve a little bit and be a solid starter? Or will he remain 275 and get owned by good passrushers? i will choose not to vote in this, i want to see what other people think before voicing my own opinion, because honestly i have mixed emotions and i need light shed on my by the insightful minds on the ganggreen.
I'm going to vote the middle option. I have seen nothing out of him that makes me think he will be elite, but he isn't a slouch either and should only improve with time and better players around him.
not necessarily true....see Jason Taylor. Dbrick has problems with power rushers, not speed rushers... EDIT: This poll sucks...he isnt a LT that gets beat too much. I agree hes skinny, but beat too often? Really...watch the games, learn what a stunt is, and then figure out if his sack numbers are skewed in any way.
please, he also is not very good run blocking, you guys are telling me that when you watch the games, you dont get nervous when dbrick is going against a good passrusher, cmon
I think DBrick's body of work so far is outstanding. He's not perfect, but he has stoned a lot of high-rep DEs.
Considering he had some great stretches this season with a player next to him no better than a parking cone, he could take a huge step forward with Faneca next to him.
i agree 100%, that said, when our qb get hit like willis mcgahee in the fiesta bowl, everyone is to blame
not if its the same person getting beat over and over and over.....redundant, just like some of the moot points constantly being argued on this forum
The jet should never take aplayer in the top 5 again...fans of this team refuse to accept anything less than elite play by the end of year 1. Forget ANYTHING about a linemen taking 3 years to reach potential in terms of technique..and 5 years for physical peak...Brick should've been elite by the end of year 1! D' BUST!!
i'm going on record saying he's a bust. i've been saying that all along. imo, if your going to say he will be a solid starter, then to me,given where he was drafted, and all the buzz surrounding him in the draft,he's a bust. he should be a dominant force, or at least show signs that he will be. you can't tell me, given his draft position, him becoming a solid starter, is good enough not to be called a bust.
He has shown flashes but im not sold on him yer, whether it was his lack of talent around him or just plain lack of talent remains to be seen. If it was that he had noone around him fine, but saying that top OL can not make immediate impact is ludicrous, What about Joe Thomas
I've been with you about Brick all along, he's played very well IMHO. People forget just how good the pass-rushers in the AFC East are at times. With Callahan coming in, I expect him to get even better. Marcus McNeill was one of the weak links on a very good O-line this year FWIW, to all those with 20/20 hindsight. People talk about Joe Thomas as an example of what Brick should be, but people forget just how good a LG he has next to him in Steinbach. If we get Faneca, I predict the left side of the line will be one of the best in the league.
