comon imagine what you would have done if in 2006 mangini came in and promptly traded our perrenial stud mlb, we would have flipped. We all would have said,"he can adjust hes VILMA for crying out loud." and then when he traded drbo a guy that was going to be in his, "Break-out" season. We would have also flipped shit. Face it guys there was no easy way for mangini to rebuild. HIndsight is 20/20 but id rather see Vilma be a beast on another team, then suck on this team. Idk if Rogers can play nose but if mangini thinks he has a place in the 3-4 then by all means we should trade vilma for him.
You are inclined to think he will fail because most have, but it not 100% guaranteed. You did say most... like the great Bill Belicheat who suffered 3 losing seasons out the gate. I still see enough positives to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point. Sometimes the long shot pays out big in the end. I will agree the odds based on past experience are against him.
Additionally, maybe he WANTED to trade Vilma and D rob when he first got here. But both have very high cap numbers given to them by the prior regime...so unfortunately we had no choice but to move forward w/ what he had. We were in no position to contend for an SB in ANY scheme...we might as start the rebuilding process in what the CS wants...regardless of some of th personell.
The NYJ FO has a plan; it's their nature. Let's see what it is. ...Guess I have a lot more faith in Mangini that some of you guys.
The mistake the coaching staff made was not following their plan AFTER the 10-6 season. They did not want these guys but they chickened out. They should have unloaded the bad fits last year. Some then. Some this year. Just because they won against a soft schedule should not have dissuaded them from following their plan.
