From PFT............... STROUD FOR SALE Though few quality interior defensive linemen can be had in free agency, several are available on the trade market. Joining Shaun Rogers of the Lions, Dewayne Robertson of the Jets, and Kris Jenkins of the Panthers is Marcus Stroud of the Jaguars. A league source has confirmed that Stroud has been given permission to shop himself in a trade. Under his contract, Stroud is due to receive salaries of $5 million, $5.5 million, and $6 million over the next three seasons. Last year, Stroud was suspended for four games due to a violation of the league's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances. He also missed several games due to injury. If Stroud is traded, the Jags presumably will go with John Henderson and Grady Jackson at defensive tackle. The Falcons could be interested in Stroud, since former Jags defensive coordinator Mike Smith is now the head coach there. A reader tells us that the news regarding Stroud initially was reported by our friends at 1010XL in Jacksonville. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Much better than Rogers, probably comparable with Jenkins, maybe even better. I'd wet myself if we could get him for Vilma or something like that.
I was really, REALLY hoping Stroud or Henderson would be available. Too bad they already snatched Williamson from the Vikings. We could have sent Coles to JAX (where I think he's from, right?) and picked up a MONSTER. 4-3, 3-4... Stroud just mauls.
Why are the Jags trying to get rid of Stroud? it doesn't make any sense, unless his steroid effort has washed him up for good in their eyes. What was his injury all about? Anybody know?
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=nfl&id=1429 'Jaguars placed DT Marcus Stroud on injured reserve with a "significant" right ankle sprain, ending his season.' Posted on Dec 12. This following a 4-game suspension earlier in the season for testing positive for banned substances.
Pretty much, Stroud is not even close to the same player he once was. And has Stroud ever played in a 3-4 defense?
I think because John Henderson is even bigger and nastier than he is, and how much money can you tie up just on DT's? Plus, they got Grady Jackson. He's enormous. The man is perfectly spherical. It's breath-taking. Looks like the Blob from X-Men.
Which begs the question, why didnt we grab Grady Jackson during the season after the Falcons dropped him? I know plenty of us wanted him when Atlanta let him go, and we never understood why we didnt bring him in. So if he is that big tub of lard that we wanted, why the hell didnt we sign him when we had the chance? anyways ending the rant on jackson, I think Stroud or Jenkins is the safer bet as our NT. they both give more effort than Rogers, and are safer bets to perform in our system. I hope the Jets can aquire one of these guys as opposed to Rogers.
NT Jenkins (350) and DE Kelly (300) would be insane. Neither Jenkins or Stroud would make a very good DE IMHO. NT - Jenkins, Pouha DE - Kelly, Ellis, Coleman
