what do you guy's think about jerry porter? seems to me he could stretch the field for us, and come pretty cheap. thoughts?
Every year, you hear the hype and potential with this guy..... and aside from a game here and there he doesn't live up to the hype NO THANKS
he really only had one good season, and thats when he played along side Jerry Rice and Tim Brown.. no thanks. oh wait.. not to mention he has off the field issues
For the right price, he is worth the risk. Especially since right now we only have 3 receivers, and one of them is injury prone due to the constant beatings he takes, and the other is a former QB who hasn't quite become a solid receiver just yet.
Are we forgetting that Coles is looking to get a long-term contract extension? Now, I'd love to see Coles be back and possibly retire a Jet, but the man is turning 31 in December and is about 1 or 2 concussions away from becoming the next Wayne Chrebet. I think we should look and consider all the options.
Not to mention Coles has already expressed his unhappiness about the Jets organization publicly, and Mangini HATES that shit. (See Pete Kendall 2007) Especially after he had a talk with Coles either that morning or just a few days before Coles made the statements about the Jets. Mangini was quite surprised at Coles' response.
I don't like JP but regardless it is pretty evident we need depth at WR. If coles gets hurt we have a core of Cotch Smith and nobody proven.
