Who knows? Maybe this is exactly what they saw last year about the 2008 off-season and said "this are our potential moves next year and if we can only survive and make do this season we would be that much better......."
It would be about time those cheapskates were a little insane with the contracts. No prize for being a billion dollars under the cap with no players.
Three guards with nowhere near the track record Faneca has got 19+ million guaranteed a piece last year.
Yeah this is great, the guy is 31 and over the hill and above average at best at this point. He was probably the best lineman in the league a few years ago but he's just nothing special anymore. Everyone gets so excited by the name but he just isn't that good anymore. Giving 20 million guaranteed to a lineman on the plus side of 30 who has played as much as he has is a huge mistake. Give the money to Jacob Bell.
Didn't you say the same thing about the Giants when they gave Mackenzie a 7 year deal with 12 million guaranteed? How did that work out?
I think that's bullshit. If I have to sacrifice a shitty year to lose a 34-35 year old Guard who wanted more money, albeit he was "promised", but how many more wins does Kendall get us? 6-10? 7-9? If we land Faneca, who is 31, and loads better...It is a brilliant decision on losing Kendall, not to mention the Jets would have players left and right wanting new contracts.
Wow... Landing Faneca would be huge... Our left side of the O-Line would simply be on Beast mode each and every Sunday... Ferguson-Faneca-Mangold on the left would be HUGE for Thomas Jones and the running game. Sign Faneca, Sign A.Samuel to make this Jets secondary one of the best in the NFL with Revid, Samuel and Rhodes. You never know... With the trade of J.Vilma, we may bring in S.Rogers and have a D-Line with Roberson as our RE, S.Rogers as our NT and S.Ellis as our LE... Thats ONE heck of a 3-4 D line with Harris in the middle
Not at all - Kendall is a slime Bucket just like he was with the last 2 teams he pulled this with..... They should have drafted / signed replacements and handled it better but, Kendall should have been punched in the face and thrown out the door earlier.
I don't call that "Stong Armed"..... As I saw it Kendall had every opportunity to leave the Jets and sign a contract somewhere else.... I don't call that a "Pay Cut" - To me it Kendall and his agent gauged the market at the time and decided to sign that deal with the jets INSTEAD.... THEN, the year later, the market for OG's exploded so Kendall and his agent were sitting there looking like dunces so, their choice was to hold a gun to the Jets head and play hard ball like Kendall has done in the past nd not honor the contract just signed.... The Jets offering more money and not putting it in the contract makes little sense at that point in time. And then it makes even less sense for them to deny it and allow the situation to blow up, over 1 million dollars... I think Mangini flet blind sided and decieved by Kendall and his agent and that the only reason why they had to make an example of him and play games at the time (which was worng)... But, I think they felt completely dejected that Kendall and his agent would play this game at all on a contract signed just months earlier... Pay cut my ass.
I agree with your post but what I never understood with the Kendall situation was if he was told that he would get a million more in 2007 if he played up to expectation, why didn't he just have that included in the renegotiated contract? That's why I never bought his story, he might be telling the truth but it seems pretty dumb for a playtime incentive not to have just been added to his new contract.
Why? It already happened and you're more focused on complaining about it than anything else. I mean...guess it's natural since you yourself don't have any control over whats done, but it doesn't do much. Theres no real point to it. It's not productive. It's just pure unadulterated negativity and bitterness.
