Has us taking Darren McFadden #6 and Carl Nicks #36 http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html Thoughts? I like the 2nd round pick, but Darren McFadden is too much of a boom or bust prospect. Plus we dont need a RB!
I'm not a fan of DMC. He'll be a good RB [probably] but that is one of the easiest positions to fill in the draft. Give me Gholston. He's my pick. Plus, I'd hate to see him in NE.
My problem here is this..... Run DMC is awesome, but this class has SO MANY solid RBs that you can get one in the later part of day 1 and still be fine..........While the O-Line talent and D-Line talent is pretty limited. So if you take McFadden, you must make sure your going heavy in FA and can get the right guys in the later parts of day 1.
DMC might be a bust on the NFl level. Mendenhall and Stewart have running game suited way better for success in the NFL than Mcfadden. I know he is awesome but that was in college and it was using some wack ass shotgun direct snap bullshit. I don't know maybe he will be the next Peterson but those are big shoes to fill on a level he has never played.
even still, i think its the wrong move. we don't need DMC, we need Gholston [or similar]. Maybe DMC becomes the best running back to ever play. And Gholston becomes a bust. But i just feel the right pick at this point in time is Gholston.
vinny said it best, RBs are dime a dozen. Give me Ray Rice or Kevin Smith later in day 1 and I'll be just as happy. besides, the best RB in the draft is Mendenhall without a doubt. his style of running is suited for the NFL while DMC is unorthodox and a gamble. Gholston to NY might not happen cause his draft stock is rising like a mofo...
With the amount of players leaving , Mangini is going to have us guessing and guessing. At least lots of holes means its more difficult to F the draft up
Anyway, I don't like taking running backs that high, especially when you don't need a running back, Gholston is the only player I want at #6. Love the second round pick, Nicks is a monster.
I'd be happy with Darren McFadden if we do well in free agency. If we go out and get two good offensive lineman, an OLB and a secondary member (CB or S), than I'd be perfectly OK with taking McFadden.
I have a new theory. I think they are telling people that they are interested in McFadden so they can trade the pick. This draft is loaded with our need positions. If Gholston, both Long's, and Dorsey are gone, we'll trade down. They are the only ones that fit the Tangini profile.
ESPN and NFL Network are helping the Jets out a lot by saying McFadden will fall to them. If Dallas doesn't pull off that rumored trade with Miami to land McFadden, the Oakland and the Jets are both in great position to make a deal with Jerry Jones' dumb ass.
Why? ...just because he's there, doesn't mean we'll take him. He is probably the most talented, and exciting skill position player in this draft. It's all about the trade bait, son.
Like I said in the thread in the main forum, I just don't see this FO drafting DMac, especially if Gholston's still on the board. I even see someone like Merling or Ellis as being more likely.
If we sign Pace and Faneca, then trade for jenkins/rogers........... who will we pick??? Could be filling these spots to be in postion to draft Mcfadden. I hope so!!!
