when asked about his competition with Chris Long at the combine, he stated something along the lines of "he's great, i tip my hat off to him, but i wouldn't be doing myself any justice if i didnt come here and give it my hardest and try to be the best" when asked what he feels would be his pros and cons for any nfl team looking at him pros: "i will do ANYTHING to win on the field" cons: "ummm i really don't have one" does this sound like a guy with motivation (lack of heart for football) problems? lol this isnt the vid of this interview but its another pretty good one http://www.nfl.com/videos?categoryId=events&filter=combine
If I was getting interviewed...I'd say the exact same thing. I like Gholston too...but saying something, and actually doing it are two very different things.
Yeah he really looked like a maniac running as hard as he could. He really seemed motivated by the fact that he wanted to be the best out there. I still take Long over him at 6. Any one getting worried that neither Long or Gholston will be there at 6?
The mental knock is purely a Jets fan one. The only places I have ever seen his dedication knocked was on JI and a little bit here. I remember people turning his quiet personality into a negative too. Cause theres never been a quietly confidently player in NFL history...it's not like we just had a HOF RB with a similar personality description. To be what Gholston has been...first a body builder and then moving towards football...that requires everything from a ridiculous work ethic, to being a self starter, and to having the confidence and heart to push yourself to meet your goals. Nice to see him do him at the combine. Gholston haters are true haters man... Only knock on him is his lateral agility. He didn't do as well in those as he did in the explosion ones.
Saying that he doesn't have any cons? That's ridiculous. I want him if he's there at 6...I was just saying saying and doing are different.
