good. let them overpay and keep the Jets from feeling they have to make a name signing for a position that isn't as dire a need as others on the team.
I am beginning to think that maybe it wouldnt be a good idea to go after this guy. It would be nice, but we just dont need him THAT badly and we have other areas of need.
Dude wants a 10 year, 100 million dollar deal with 30 million guaranteed..... Yeah please do sign him Cleveland.
Yup, he wants the payday. He is good, but he is nowhere near what I would call "great". Ty Law was "great", just couldn't stay healthy. Rod Woodson was "great". Assante doesn't care about anything but the cash. In fact, as a testimony to his character, he didn't even attend the funeral of his teammate Marquis Hill when he was holding out. I find that disgusting, and have been ready to let him go ever since. I don't care where he goes, as long as he is gone.
Let the Browns sign Asante. A lot of those players from New England 'look' successful, when in reality they just fit the defensive scheme established there. What Patriot left New England and completely helped turn a team around? (Besides Ty Law) The Jets should focus on signing Pro-Bowler Faneca.
They already have 3 very talented young corners...why? Bodden is nasty. Wright is nasty. McDonald played well.
I'm not a big fan of Samuels, and certainly not the Pats.... but realistically, Samuels has a SB rings already. I think he has all right to demand a $100million deal!! He might not sign another contract and there is no guarantee that his next team won't win the SB in his career. So, that way, he can have the cash and still be a SB champ. Go get yours Asante!!
He has a tattoo that says "get paid" and after he makes interceptions he's been known to shout "get paid baby thats another million!" or something along that lines, which is behavior that would scare me if I worked in the NFL and was considering signing him. He's damn good, but not 10 years/100 mill good. I really don't see anyone paying him anything significantly higher than what Clements got last year with the 49ers, although thats still a lot.
