40 times are pretty important when looking at running backs buddy. it can change your draft position multiple rounds. they dont have the combine for no reason. and to say that it has anything at all to do with the amount of 40 yard runs is just stupid. it judges the all around speed of the particular player. get a clue.

Mcfadden has awesome numbers; no douibt. It was brought out that his footwork needs some coaching. He has had a tendency to fumble more than you would want and he goes down fairly easily. The team getting him has to weigh whether they think they can coach him to be better than he is to address some of the things that are concerns with DMac.

If we get 2 good O-linemen via FA than I could see us taking a chance. DMac is so fast that if he goes north south all you need to do is give him a hole and he is in the defensive backfield. Also with his speed he is a serious deep threat if he were shifted into the slot on some plays; for that we need a credible fullback to handle blocking assignments.

Personally, I will be somewhat surprized if it works out that we get him. Why? I still could see him going before us at #6. I also only think we will get 1 FA linemen instead of the needed 2. This would continue with the mold of trying to get things done as cheaply as possible. This would mean that the Jets would still need to fill a guard or tackle spot in the later rounds and hope that the guy works out. Kind of risky, if you ask me.

Gholston, Long, Ellis make a lot more sense as far as guys that can come in here and do something right out of the box - much less bust potential.

DMac here would be interesting, but there would be some worry on my part. Reggie Bush was supposed to be the greatest thig to happen to football in the last 25 years. We all know that he isn't even remotely close to measuring up to that billing. Bush is good, but he has not dominated the position by any means. So even though DMac is very tempting there are no guarantees and there have been some concerns brought to the fore-front.

You don't base your draft on 40 times, especially when the OL and DL are terrible. That is my point. The Jets need blockers and tacklers. I couldn't care if McFadden ran a 3.8, I still would not pick him. What was Bush's 40 time two years ago? Wasn't something like 4.2 or lower? Has he been worth the pick? Hardly. In fact, it is becoming quite clear that Houston took the best player in Williams. Fans just love the skill players in the draft, but its the big guys that win games. Take the Giants DL away and the Giants probably don't even make the playoffs, let alone win the SB. And they lost the most productive RB in their history before this season. How do you figure that?????

Good point regarding the Giants losing Tiki. Do you think we should pass on Mcfadden if he is an Adrian Peterson Talent as billed. If he is then there is not one player in this draft that we should take over him. Granted our obvious needs are both sides of the lines but we do have 6 other picks and Free agency as well. We need play makers on both sides of the ball and this one pick will not be the end all to us getting back to respectability. If Dmac has Peterson Talent I just don't see how we let him slip. As bad as we are if he is the BPA we should take him. If we don't and he is that good I guarantee you the Patriots will. It would be like us saying we should not draft Ed Reed because we have a Safety.

i never said anything about baseing your draft on 40 times, how we should draft DMC, that our line doesnt need improvement, or reggie bush. you tried to say the 40 wasnt that important and that its relative to the amount of 40 yard runs in the season which is down right stupid.

hope he practices running into walls thats what he will face witht his o-line. We have jones and washington we dont need rb. Mcfadden will do no better with this o line. What dont people understand. besides us maybe not signing coles maybe we should worry about a wr since ya know we have 2 rbs.

You can't draft two OL and a DL with ONE draft pick, you know. There probably won't be any OL or DL worth taking when we pick. We'll have to be very active in free agency to fill those spots. Taking the BPA at #6 (in this case McFadden) is the right move.

Agreed. Absolute no-brainer. If he's 80% as good as AP was this year, getting McFadden would be highway robbery.

Add Faneca as a fixture at LG, and our offense has a chance at no longer being a laughingstock.
