I think the Pat's are probably very happy with Maroney and probably wouldn't draft McFadden. Take a look at their defense, it's the weaker link on their team, not to mention getting old in key places real quick.

And who cares who they take. We need to worry about who is taking players in front of us not who's behind us.

Fix the lines. If he's is still there at six, see what you can get. It has been said again and again - without a good O line McFadden won't do much. Without a decent D line he'll hardly get to see the ball. With decent lines the player we do have will get a chance to shine.

Michael Johnson is McFadden and Felix's speed coach. He said Mcfadden is the most coachable high end athlete he has ever worked with. You just have to tell him things once. He also said if he had more time with Felix he could get in the 4.2's

Arkansas RB Darren McFadden ran an unofficial 4.27 forty at the NFL Combine Sunday.
Hello. McFadden was considering not running in the weeks leading up to the Combine, but it's good he did. For perspective, Adrian Peterson ran 4.40 and 4.37 times last year. If McFadden's time stands, he and Appalachian State WR Dexter Jackson will have posted the fastest 40s at the Combine so far.

Everybody is throwing the NYJ skill players under the bus. Thomas and Leon are exceptional backs -- they just have no blocking to work with. Once they get something to work with (vicious smash them in the mouth Big Uglies for a change), juxtapose them with the wideouts and play action passes and draws and screens and up the gut and down the field and off tackle. See how upset and breathless the defense gets -- their hands on their hips, panting and hollering at each other. The OL and the DL. Some speed in the wide outs. But the OL and the DL. Let's focus on our weaknesses.

McShay is a fraud and he couldn't carry Mayock's jock strap if you stapled it onto his hand.

McF to the Jets at no. 6? No way, no how.

So we should bypass fixing the lines and draft McFadden because he is fast? Didn't Bush run a very fast 40 too? Tell me, how fast will McFadden run with no holes to run through? How many 40 yard runs does a RB have in one season - 2?

What makes me laugh is people think if we take mcfadden we won't upgrade the line. People we have more than 1 pick. We can get line help thru f/a.

Again, why does drafting McFadden at #6 automatically mean the line won't be upgraded through free agency and other draft picks? What kind of logic is that?

who would we even get at #6 to fix the line? I agree that OL is a need but McFadden is a significantly better player overall than any OL that would be available at #6 (in other words, everyone outside Jake Long). And the jets should not trade down unless they get some sort of ridiculous offer. We can fix O-Line in FA. There is plenty of talent in FA including Jacob Bell, Alan Faneca and Flozell Adams.

Does it concern you just a little that many free agent OL have either been signed or franchised and that teams have huge amounts of cap space?

Faneca hasn't been franchised, neither has Bell or Adams. Those are just off the top of my head. The Jets, between the maneuvering they did at the end of last year with Elam's contract, and other releases/renegotiations, will have over $30M in cap room. They should definitely be able to get atleast one guy, and all they'll be looking for is two starters.

You fill those two holes in free agency and/or with the rest of the draft. You don't reach for a guard or right tackle at #6, and you'd have to trade down WAY too far until taking a player at that position becomes a realistic possibility, you take the best available player. If McFadden is there, you take him.

The question with the 1st overall pick in the draft shouldn't be the line, since that should be addressed in FA, it should be the linebackers. Can we afford to give up an excellent pass rushing linebacker in exchange for an explosive RB who would be nice to have but really don't need?

Yes it sure as hell does.

  18. Ok, Let's say the draft unfolds like this(Which at this point could be likely)

    1- Miami- Gholston
    2-Rams- C. Long
    3- Falcons-Ryan
    4- Raiders- S. Ellis
    5- Chiefs- Jake Long

...Jets On the clock...nobody wants to trade up..

Are you gonna reach for someone jus b/c many INSIST we address the lines w/ the first pick..or do you do what any bad team SHOULD do in this type of stuation and take the BPA?

In this scenario...McFadden is far and AWAY the BPA...

  19. Yes it does.

It also concerns me that all linemen that fit our scheme and offer proper value could be gone by the time pick 6 comes around, and their may not be any trade partners...

What sooths my concerns is that mcfadden will likely be there. And not only would he provide great draft value, but he's also the best player in the draft and would give this franchise our first home run hitter since Freeman McNeil.

can i ever make a post without hearing some sarcastic bullshit. you know exactly what i meant. of course i dont want us to draft each pick based on keeping players off the pats. but in this situation we should seriously think about trading the pick if DMC is till on the board and we do not plan on taking him. you dont not want this guy on the patriots let alone in your division. especially the way our run defense has been the past few years. thats all im saying. your post was not smart or funny, just makes you sound like a whiny d bag.
