Well it sure as hell would beef up our line, not to mention depth....

    Shaun Rogers Is Available
Saturday, February 23rd 2008, 12:08 pm by Gary Grund

NFL Network?s Adam Schefter reported earlier this week that the Lions will trade DT Shaun Rogers within the next week.
    Shaun Rogers
Over at ESPN, John Clayton notes that five or six teams have drawn interest in this 340 pound mammoth. The Broncos are one of the team?s interested in trading for Rogers.

It will likely cost a second or third round pick to get him from the Detroit Lions.

Mangini has been searching for a true nose tackler ever since he got here in 2006. The seven-year veteran stands at six-foot four and is listed at 340 pounds, however according to this report, Rogers weighed at least 360 last season and didn?t perform up to his normal level of play. Statistically, he had one of the better seasons of his career this past season. 39 tackles, 7 sacks and 1 interception returned for a touchdown.

i think that the jets should take a look at him. But, DONT TRADE VILMA FOR HIM. I would give up a 3rd rounder in a heartbeat and i would think about a second rounder. He has the size to be a dominant NT in the league and sure up the Defense.

I dont think he would be successful here. Motivation has always seemed to be a problem for him and I don't see there being any kind of motivation for him to play a glamourless position on a bad team. It might work out if he were here - I doubt it though.

Would much rather take Frank Okam from Texas in the 3rd than give a third for Shaun Rogers. The knock on Okam is his motor, but Rogers has proven he has no motor.

He has the size to play NT but if he doesnt have the drive to play all out at DT, then I'm not sure he will have the drive to play all out at NT.

Sean Rogers is also an established player while Frank Okam is a kid coming out of college.

If they could get him to play, he would change our D. We'd be top 10.

I agree. If the Lions threw in a 3rd or 4th round pick or something to even it out, it'd be worth it.

ill trade vilma and run. at this point, vilmas value is shot and rogers gives us a legit 3-4 NT. mangini and his staff are a bunch of clowns if they dont end up getting him

Yeah, with Vilma coming off an injury that effects his legs, his biggest weapon on the field, his value has sunk to a 2nd or 3rd round pick in compensation.

Just because a guy has the size to play 3-4 doesn't mean he's a 3-4 NT. It's a whole different technique, it's a dirty job, and it's not something many guys like to do.

I'd rather not trade anything of value for Rogers and draft Rubin. Rubin is just growing on me the more I hear about him.

This always reminds me of Madden's Replacements quote.

I love to watch a fat guy score. Because first you get a fat guy spike, then you get the fat guy dance.

    Just replace spike with stiff-arm.

Because I would rather give Vilma get a chance to redeem himself with us than watch him turn back into a top ten linebacker with another team.

I mean seriously, I guarentee if we trade him and he returns back to form you hypocrites are going to want Tangini's heads on a platter.

    From rotoworld...

Coach Rod Marinelli acknowledged at the NFL Combine that the Lions have interest in Jonathan Vilma. The Jets have given Vilma, 25, permission to seek a trade. "He's a heck of a player," Marinelli said. Vilma would likely work well as a middle linebacker in Marinell's Tampa 2 scheme.
