This sucks. I was a real big fan of this guy coming in to takover the Clement tackle position. IMO, getting both him & an OG like Jacob Bell in FA would have taken pressure off of us to fix the O-line in the early rounds of the draft. Please dont attack me & say "aw, season is over for you already?" Its just that I felt the dropoff between Andrews & the next available OT was huge --- not a big fan of Locklear & I never thought that Gross would be availabe for us to get (either franchised or signed long-term).
Yea , Agreed what if we would of held onto Fabini , McKenzie , Mawae , Thomas instead we got a young line that gave up almost 60 sacks and thats with 2 first rounders in there.
The only ones worth holding onto at the time we had to make the decisions were Thomas and McKenzie. Both young guys headed into their prime and pretty good already. Mawae would have been okay to hang onto if the rest of the line wasn't falling to pieces. No point in holding onto a 32 year old center when nobody else on the line is a keeper, because by the time you've fixed the line he's going to be 35.
I'd say letting go of Thomas and McKenzie is a bigger deal than giving up Fabini and Mawae. They could be anchors on this line right now...we gave up Fabini and Mawae right at the right time.
