Alot of NFL fans aren't aware that that league requires 255 picks. That leaves approx 31 comp picks. If all of the comp picks aren't used, which very possible, the league awards picks at the end of Rd 7 to the teams with the worst records starting with Miami, Stl.....etc. So, there is a very strong possibility the Jets will have a pick at the very end of Rd 7. Also, I expect the Jets to receive a 7th rd pick from the Vikes, from the Bollinger trade. Possible 3-7 rd picks. Now, I can here the naysayers..."7th Rd picks are worthless". I agree your not going to find alot of super talent in Rd 7, but if one of the 3 picks pans out ,I'd be thrilled. Another point, a player you really like to sign after the draft you can draft in rd 7, you don't have to fight 31 teams to sign. Just something to think about!!
That's a good piece of info and I agree, you never know who you're going to get at the end of the 7th... This year it was Ahmad Bradshaw and last year it was Marques Colston. Imagine having one of these guys on the team... And I think we get either a 6th or 7th for Bollinger. He did start a game or two and had some playing time so maybe it's a 6th.
Both trades.....Bollinger and Hamilton are for conditional picks to be determined. We will be finding out soon the value of, if any, of each trade. IMO, we will get a 7th for Bollinger (based on making the roster), and may not have to give up anything for Hamilton, which was based on playing time. Again, this is just a guess on my part.
Your giving up something for hamilton. You owed the Raiders a draft choice last year. Raiders had like ten draft choices last year, and agree to take something in 2008. It's Time for the Jets to pay up.
It's not a given, Hamilton was for an undisclosed pick and to meet certain criteria...playing time, roster...etc...which was undisclosed. We will all know by the end of March when the picks are anounced.
It is a given , Jet will be forking over a draft pick to the Raiders. I heard it was the pick they get from the Vikings. You can wait till March to confirm what Im saying. It will be great to get a chance to draft a player that could been a priority freeagent.
RJ...................You don't have a clue, go stir up crap somewhere else. The Jet's pick from the Vikings hasn't even been determined, so how can the Raiders get that pick. Either way, the Raiders would get the Jet's 7th rd pick, not the pick the Vikes give to the Jets. Know what you're talking about before you spout off.
Im not stiring anything up. Again lets wait till compensation is announced. After they announce it than tell me how wrong I was. Jets owe the raiders for Bobby Hamilton . I can wait and will examine this thread again later.
That's fine....but what your stated in the earlier post is bullcrap (Jets give the Raiders the Vikes pick). No one except the Jets, Raiders, and the NFL know the terms of the trade. Hamilton only made 2006's Roster and had limited playing time and was cut before opening day 2007. It's possible that Hamilton didn't meet the reqiured playing time or even being on the Roster in 2007 to compensate the Raiders. I 'm not certain about the Raiders getting the Jet's pick.....you are.... which isn't assured from my previous sentence.
Im not gloating about anything. Just stating a fact. That Jets are losing a draft choice for bobby hamilton. I don't know why the poster trying to say its not known ifthe raiders in fact get draft choice. Usually it a certain draft choice and if a player meets certain incentives it could mean a higher draft choice. But expect the Raiders to get something from jets. (maybe even a sixth rounder)
First off the trade for bobby hamilton happen in 2006. They owed the Raiders a draft choice in 2007. Raiders had like 10 draft choices and took one in 2008.(thats just speculation) If B Hamilton didn't meet the criteria in 2006 than there is no compensation in 2008. So its silly to say we don't know if raiders are entitled to anything.(that is errorenous statement) Listen no sense argueing with you. Lets wait till they announce the pick the raiders get. When they do that will you admit that you were wrong. Raiders don't get the draft choice, than I will admit I was wrong. No need to get upset, its not that important.
First of all, compensatory picks are not tradable. They are given to teams to compensate losses in free agency. Bollinger and Hamilton shouldn?t even be part of this discussion. The Bobby Hamilton trade was in 2006 and he played that whole season, so it is quite possible that we would be sending one of our picks to the raiders in this years draft.
Exactly, they probably get a pick. But it?s not the sure think, Jeaux wants to believe it is, and that?s what WW85 is trying to tell him. And that the Raiders "took one next year" sounds like BS to me. As far as i know, the terms of the deal determine which pick you get in which year. You can?t say i want it next year. It would have been anounced last year, that the Jets own the Raiders a pick, and the Raiders and Jets agreed, that that pick is for 2008. I never heard of anything like that. edit: btw, what?s with that LB we traded to the Bucs during TC, did he make the Roster? Did he play? May we get something for him?
Here are the facts. Raiders traded B hamilton in 2006 and were owed a conditional pick for 2007. ( your Not going to dispute that fact) During the 2007 draft Raiders never recieved compensation from jets and it was announced that Jets Owed raiders a conditional pick in 2008.(Nfl .com) Now usually when you wait for compensation to be paid in following year, you get a higher draft choice. For example if itwas a seventh rounmder in 2007 , it most likely is a sixth rounder the following year. For example Pete Kendal trade. Jets were guaranteed to get a certain pick but if Kendall met some standards the Pick would be alot better. IF ww85 just took time some time to think about situation rational. He would realize that the trade took place in 2006. IF Hamilton didn't meet the criteria of the trade than , they wouldn't even list that Jets still owe the Raiders something in 2008. Frank Coyle from another Jet site answer a jet fan ,and claimed Raiders get Jets compensation for Bollinger from Vikings. ( I hope that wrong as I rather have Jets pick which is better pick ,since they had a worse season than vikings.
Why didn?t you say that at the beginning? If the NFL anounced that, they would have had anounced which pick it was. Do you remember, what it was? Conditional picks are often picks in 2 years, so that wouldn?t be special.
I think I might have uswed the wrong words. IN 2007 NFL com listed the Raiders gets undisclosed draft choice from the Jets for 2007 draft. For some reason the Raiders never recieved that compensation, anD NFL after 2007 draft, listed Raiders get an undisclosed draft pick in 2008. Thats why I speculated on Raiders and Jet agreeing to push that pick to following year.(2007 -2008) There is no doubt Raiders are getting something from Jets this year.(Take that to bank) Again Frank Coyle(this is from another jet site) says he was told that raidersd anD Jets agreed the compensation will be what jets get from vikings for bollinger.(That is just Coyle and we have to wait and see if thats true)
RJ.....I'm very clear on my thoughts about this whole scenario. I know we got Hamilton in 2006 and no compensation was given in 2007. I was correcting "YOU" on 2 issues you brought up....#1... You stated the Jets are giving the Vikes pick from Bollinger to the Raiders, that's impossible. #2 A conditional pick, means conditional, nothing is for sure. Now the Jets may have to fork over a pick for Hamilton, but NO ONE at this time knows that for certain.....again only the Jets, Raiders and the NFL know the terms of the trade. Late March it will be disclosed with the comp picks. Everything above is a Fact...no sense of re-hashing this issue.
