Well, the Raiders now certainly aren't going to take him, leaving the Fins at #1, Rams at #2, and KC at 3/4/5 all with a top tier RB, leaving only Atlanta in our way. What do you see as Atlanta's options and how likely are they?
Atlanta has more pressing needs than a running back. That kid Norwood is no slouch and Dunn is def serviceable for a few more years... That being said I know this question has been asked on this site before, but if Mcfadden is there do we take him at six or trade out of that spot?
I think it does. Clearly DMC is better than Fargas, but if you resign him, have Lamont AND draft Bush last year, then aren't you saying, I'm not going to spend a top five pick on a RB?
I think it does too. I think the Raiders will take one of the 3 d-lineman: Dorsey, Ellis, or Chris Long.
Fargas played great with the Raiders last year so i think there pretty high on him to be there Starter next season which he most likely at this point will be. Only team i really see taking McFadden now is Atlanta but Norwoods come on pretty strong and looks to be a good RB and Dunn is older but can still move it , To me they still got 2 Solid Options at RB then again i dont care much 4 this considering we do have 2 Solid RB's ourself with T.J. and Neon Leon but T.J. is turning 30 and Leon is a ST/Backup RB. If McFaddens Available it will be interesting to see what Tangini does. Gholston or McFadden is what they will be thinking while there on the clock come Draft day.
Neither the Raiders nor the Falcons have any business passing on McFadden. Look what Bush and Peterson have done to their teams recently. He is clearly the best available prospect, fits a need (I don't like any of their backs as starters) and will help boost the interest in the team.
Reggie Bush is not going to be a reason why teams would jump on McFadden. Michael Bush COULD be a reason to pass on McFadden. He's very good and slipped due to the broken leg.
I completely agree with you, Rambo. The Raiders took Bush because they HOPE he can come back from his broken leg, but its still a work in progress. It doesn't look likely that LaMont is staying in Oakland and they'll look to Fargas and McFadden to split the carries with Bush (if healthy) for goal line and short yardage situations. After reviewing video, I do think Mendenhall is a better prospect than DMC because of a lot of reasons I won't get into right now. But, we all know DMC will be a top 5 pick and I really don't see him getting past the Raiders.
have you seen Oaklands running back staff Lamont Jordan-supposed to be the man Dominic Rhodes-also supposed to be the man Justin Vargas-New Contract means he is planning on being the man McFadden- First round draft pick, he is the man the raiders are crazy
The Vikings had no problem taking Peterson after signing Chester Taylor, and Farges is no Chester Taylor. Don't be surprised if the Raiders take McFadden
I just don't see how that after Sapp is retiring (not official yet) that they could pass on Ellis or Dorsey if either of them have a good combine. This is going to be very interesting come the end of April, and we could very well have Darren McFadden staring us in the face when we are on the clock.
personnally, I would like to hope that the top five goes as follows Phins-Sedrick Ellis Rams- Glenn Dorsey Raiders-Mcfadden Falcons- Matt Ryan Chiefs- Jake Long Jets- Chris Long Thats they way i want the draft to play out, I want us to get Chris Long, because I think he is the best pass rushing prospect in the draft. He has an endless motor, and just is the guy I want most. I don't feel that Gholston is the kind of guy we can just plug into that Shawne Merriman, Demarcus Ware role. I also don't feel comfortable with Ellis or Dorsey because I just don't think either will give us that guy who we can plug into the 3-4 NT spot without having to worry about it. They will both be great 3 technique guys, but I don't see either being much better at the 3-4 NT than D-rob, so thus it would be a wasted #6 pick because in 6 months, we will be talking about how big a bust they would be. Some people would want to give him 2 years, others would be calling for the management's head, you guys know how the board works. Mcfadden is not the star we need, and I think guys like Mendenhall will be just as good in the pro's, so if he is left on our doorstep, we should be moving that pick as fast as possible. If either DT is available, we should take Gholston, even though I don't like Gholston that much, he does have the potential to be good down the road. It would be immensley curious what the FO would do if we were left with a choice between Jake Long and Vernon Gholston. However I see this as the least likely scenario because the Chiefs are very likely to take Long should he be available.
I believe the Dolphins have reported they are going to select Chris Long with the number one overall selection.
The Dolphins have said nothing. There have been reports linking them to C. Long and to Matt Ryan, I believe, with Long being the favorite at this point. It's still way too early though.
The Raiders were the sixth leading team in football last year and that was without consistant Qb play. Raiders proved last year they can basically put anyRb in their system and have sucess running the football. Lane Kiffin after being impressed by Michael Bush in practice, wanted to cut L Jordan and activate him to roster. AL davis nixed that idea because he didn't want the Broncos or KC (who both were hurting at rb at the time) to benefit from Raiders decision. D Rhodes who raiders couldn't get enough carrys lastyear , proved he could carry the load himself, as he ran very impressively the last two games, against some stout run defenses.(jags Chargers) I think Rhodes they will try and trade ,and draft a RB later for depth. J Fargas and M bush fit Raiders running system very well and compliment each other skills very well. Raiders on offense look solid at RB, FB(have two excellent ones in J Griffith and Oren Oneal) TE and QB(more because money tied up in russell as he has to be the guy) . Outside of those positions on offense, raiders have a definite need.
Alot OF what raiders do will depend on health and can they re-sign Tom Kelly to their dline. HE can be the answer at De or W Sapps undertackle position. W Sapps undertackle position is not a problem as TOm kelly(if re -signed) OR Gerard warren ( who Raiders traded a fifth round to Denver this year- probably not going anywhere) is probably better suited for Sapps undertackle position. What raiders needs is a Run stuffer at DT. T Sands who was supposed to be that guy played lousy after after getting a big fat contract. As a Raider fan , This would be my dline LDE Tom kelly(not Burgess as he too small to play there) LDT - FA Iaac Sopoaga0r FA fromCorey williams / T Sands RDTGerard warren RDE D burgess(hold up better against run there)
Parcells isn't going to tip his hand. He probably knows AL Davis has strong feelings for Chris Long(hoping he will want to trade up) and the fact that Long is the most likely player teams would move up for.(teams in top part of draft- as he dosen't want to go too far down) Look when Jets had number One Pick.(pace) Parcells kept trading back and ended up with James farrior. Probably wants to do something similiar.
Fargas averaged 4.5 yards a carry last year and improved alot in his blocking.(protecting the QB) Raiders said from outcome they weren't going to overpay to keep fargas. They had a number in their minds what they were going to pay, and fargas agreed to it. What you have In Fargas is 6'1 22o pound Rb with 4.3 speed and M Bush 6'1 245 is very nice tandem. Its not only raiders blocking system but Raiders have some nice pieces that make their running game sucessful. Lets see Two FBs Justin Griffith- can do everything and Oren Oneal- devasting lead blocker) TEs- Zach Miller- Can do everything very well Return OF Fred wakefield(blocking TE) Wrs - Ronald Curry and J porter ( will be missed in FA) all contributed to sucess of raiders running agme.
