Mel Kiper has dropped Cherilius out of his top 5 tackles for this draft class. As an analyst who has predicted our draft picks for the past couple of seasons. (Brick and Mangold- had Revis with us at 25 for 3 weeks before stock rose) I trust his judgement. Heres the list: 1. Jake Long, Michigan 2. Ryan Clady, Boise State 3. Chris Williams, Vanderbilt 4. Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh 5. Sam Baker, USC If Gosder is falling off the boards, which one of these guys would you rather gave.
I bet Kiper has Cherilius ranked 6th. It's just Kiper's opinion....don't we all have our opinions. I don't have as much Kiper hate as most people. Kiper knows his stuff, I think he's "NOT" very accurate in projecting team needs, he studies the players and their abilities. Projecting what NFL team a prospect will go to isn't his strenght. I enjoy watching Kiper on NFL draft day over Mayock. That bad thing about watching Kiper, is I have to deal with Chris Berman. Susie is much better on Day 2.
Guards, Im sorry but at this point I'd prefer to get a guard who would probably be better for Jones considering he is more of an inside runner
I guess Otah would be a RT, but those other guys are all LTs. I'd still like Gosder more than Otah, but that's just me.
Otah would probably start at right tackle and eventually develop into a left tackle, he's still very raw.
Guys I'm not sure why you thought Gosder should have been in the top 5. He is the typical BC lineman, solid but not spectacular. He will probably start during his rookie season and play 10-15 years in the league. He probably won't go to many pro bowls and won't be much of an all-star. He also will most likely play Right Tackle. If you look at the other 5 guys you have players with a much better chance of playing the blind side (aside from maybe Baker) as well as guys who possess a much higher ceiling as far as potential goes. Most of them will probably test better as athletes and will have the flair that you need to be a top pick. Unfortunately, a few will most likely be busts and fight for playing time. The draft is all about potential lately and Gosder just doesn't have the mojo. He will be a good player but not enough for some team to pay a premium. He may go above some of those players in the draft and will probably outperform some as well but if you are just ranking them, he is no better than 6th.
yeah, i think Kiper is a douche, but he tends to be accurate in his evaluations; how can you not, when that's your only job? besides, a lot of this can change after the Combine. so we'll see.....
