This is take two and I believe much improved. Read through and post some comments.

    Resignings
    - Abram Elam, 3 years
    - Joe Kowalewski FB/TE, 1 year
    - Hank Poteat CB, 3 years
    - Wade Smith OL, 2 years
    - Marques Tuiasosopo, 2 years
    - Wallace Wright WR/ST, 1 year
    - Kerry Rhodes S, 6 years

    Releases
    - David Barrett CB
    - Matt Chatham LB
    - Justin McCareins WR
    - Adrien Clarke OG
    - David Bowens OLB

    Trade
    - Dewayne Robertson to a team that runs the 4-3 defense and is in the Market for interior help as Dewayne is a very solid DT when placed in the right scheme. Some teams that come to mind are: Atlanta, Kansas City, Buffalo, Detroit etc… Expect a restructure of Dewayne’s contract however from his new team. If we take a major cap hit for this trade, than it doesn’t happen. Can somebody update me on Dewayne’s contract info? If this goes through, I would expect a 4th round pick since he’s still young, a former top 5 pick, has a good motor and has experience in different schemes. With Sopoaga coming in, it’s better if Dewayne finds a team that could use his services more than this 3-4 team.

    Free Agent Signings
    - Anthony Becht, TE, Tampa Bay (Read comments before bashing)
    - Sean Locklear, OT, Seattle
    - Isaac Sopoaga, NT, San Francisco
    - Clark Haggans, OLB, Pittsburgh
    - Drayton Florence, CB, San Diego

    - Before you throw a fit, Anthony Becht was a major proponent to this team’s running game and is one of the best blocking TEs in the game or maybe the best. He won’t be catching many passes, but he’ll be like a 6th offensive lineman. Locklear is a young and very solid RT that is a clear upgrade over Clement. Sopoaga has the size, strength and experience necessary to play NT and should rotate with Pouha. Haggans is a depth signing with long-time experience with Pittsburgh as an OLB in the 3-4. Florence was a very solid player in a play-making secondary in San Diego and should fight for a starting spot. He’s still young and in his prime, unlike some CBs on this team.

    Draft
    1. Vernon Gholston OLB/DE Ohio St.
    2. Limas Sweed WR Texas
    3. Roy Schuening OG Oregon St.
    4. Kendall Langford DE Hampton
    4. Tashard Choice RB Georgia Tech
    5. Bruce Davis OLB/DE UCLA
    6. Red Keith ILB Central Michigan
    7. Jamar Adams S Michigan

-Until I see a better option (Derrick Harvey?), Gholston is the pick as we need playmakers at OLB. If Sweed runs below average, he’ll make it there. Otherwise, I’d go with WRs Adarius Bowman or Devin Thomas. Schuening compares favorably to Logan Mankins and Davin Joseph, who both were starters and great players from Day 1. Schuening is a 4-year starter in the PAC-10 and an NFL ready prospect at a position that has been historically favorable to rookies in terms of starting. Most people feel he'll make it to round 3, but I wouldn't be against taking him in Round 2 if need be. Langford is a sleeper who fits the 3-4 defense. Tashard Choice falls due to the surround talent and is also underrated. Davis had a great Senior Bowl week and looks like he can make a transition to the 3-4. Red Keith, another D-I sleeper, was ultra-productive and also has the size to play in the 3-4. Adams is a solid, extremely physical safety who has a chance to make it in the NFL.

    Depth Chart
QB: Kellen Clemens | Chad Pennington | Marques Tuiasosopo
RB: Thomas Jones | Leon Washington | Tashard Choice
HB: Joe Kowalewski | Jason Posciak
WR: Jerricho Cotchery | Laveranues Coles | Limas Sweed | Brad Smith | Chansi Stuckey | Wallace Wright
TE: Chris Baker | Anthony Becht | James Dearth
LT: D’Brickashaw Ferguson | Jacob Bender | Clint Oldenburg
LG: Roy Schuening | Will Montgomery | Jacob Bender | Wade Smith
C: Nick Mangold | Wade Smith
RG: Brandon Moore | Will Montgomery
RT: Sean Locklear | Anthony Clement | Clint Oldenburg

DE: Shaun Ellis | Kendall Langford | CJ Mosley
NT: Sione Pouha | Isaac Sopoaga | Mike Devito
DE: Kenyon Coleman | CJ Mosley | Kendall Langford
OLB: Clark Haggans | Bryan Thomas | Bruce Davis | Marques Murrell
ILB: Jonathan Vilma | David Harris | Eric Barton | Red Keith
OLB: Vernon Gholston | Bryan Thomas | Bruce Davis | Marques Murrell
CB: Darrelle Revis | Hank Poteat | Drayton Florence | Andre Dyson | Drew Coleman | Justin Miller
FS: Eric Smith | Abram Elam | Jamar Adams
SS: Kerry Rhodes | Abram Elam | Jamar Adams

    K: Mike Nugent
P: Ben Graham | Jeremy Kapinos

    - The starters are not in place and this depth chart can change. Clemens should have the job at QB. Schuening will be in a 4-way battle for the LG spot, but should win it. The OLB starters could change as well. CB is another position where any of those five guys could end up starting opposite Revis. FS will be a battle between Elam and Smith, but don’t completely forget about Jamar Adams.

Well that's it. I'd appreciate comments, questions, praises, criticism etc... Thanks for reading and again, feedback is appreciated.

I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat. Good work. Not sure about Florence, how does he compare to guys like Randall Gay?

If Sweed is gone, what about James Hardy WR out of Indiana in Round 2?

Very, very nicely done. Love the draft; I hope Sweed will still be there in Round 2 (I doubt he falls that far).

Between Baker and Pociask, though, I don't see the need for Becht, even with your justification. Here's hoping Rhodes comes back on board for a loooooooooong time.

3 years for Elam? I don't know if anyone would be willing to give him 3 years. I have no problem giving him 2, but I don't know.

I like it and would be happy if it worked out like that. I like Elam and 3 years is cool with me. I actually would like to see Bowens stay around. Either way I think you did a good job and it seems very realistic.

I honestly think Hardy's 6'7 height will make him a first round pick, especially if he has a killer combine (which he likely will). I think Sweed will fall because of prior injuries that kept him out of the Senior Bowl and possibly the combine. If he falls, it would be a diamond in the rough. Though, do we really want to draft another injury prone wideout (see Chansi Stuckey)?

I like the Gholston, Sweed, Shoening first three picks though, I think Shoening's stock will rise to a second rounder after the combine. I think Ellis is also a first round option because under our weight training program he can bulk up sufficiently to play nose or end.

I think this is a solid mock offseason and is very good at filling our need positions. I can't argue with the LG spot if all we do is bring in Schuening, however it would be nice to bring in a gaurd as well, like a 1-2 year stop gap, and then Schuening could either take over when ready or take Brandon Moore's spot.

Also glad you decided to play both Vilma and Harris in the middle. Also happy to see Hobson walk, I never understood his selection in the first place, but he did do well here during his tenure, so he worked out ok, but now it's time to move on. I would Love it if Sweed fell until round 2, but he would have to have a horrendous workout to have that happen at this point. So I think a guy like James Hardy of Indiana is more likely to be there. If we are picking up a corner not named Samuel or Asomungh this offseason, I would gladly take Drayton Florence as my guy. He is better than Randall Gay, and would still be starting today if not for the emergence of Cromartie. Also I do enjoy that we bring in a blocking tight end in Becht. I hate him as a recieving option, but as a blocker he is one of the best. It is an overall good offseason for the Jets, and it would help to solve a ton of our problems, all though I would prefer to go D-line and O-line with our last two picks in hopes one of which would pan out, and give us depth to work with.

FYI - Kendall Langford dropped his weight to around 270 lbs. This has effectively taken him out of the running for 3-4 DE and he was reportedly thrown around like a rag doll at the Senior Bowl.

Concerning Dwayne, a fourth round pick for a starting DT who is still only 26 years old is not going to be enough value for him. For the hit we will take trading him we might as well keep him around.

Also, considering that, I don't think we can get more for him.

You and I (as well as countless other draftniks) both had him pegged as a solid mid round pick to add bulk in the 3-4 and the word is he might have gotten some bad advice from his agent by trying to get lighter and quicker. He was a small school prospect with upside due to the lack of talent at that position but now he is just another guy. Disappointing but lets see what happens at the combine.

Florence is a young, speedy CB with solid tackling skills and good ball-skills. He started more than half of the year in San Diego and was part of a play-making secondary. He will be in the mix to start with the other guys. He should emerge though. Florence hits the market because former Top 5 pick Quentin Jammer and new star Antonio Cromartie along with Supplemental draft pick Paul Oliver are around. He has good size (6-0 195) and is only 27 years old.

He absolutely warrants consideration. The WR that falls to our 2nd pick will be the one that performs worst in the combine, mainly the 40-time. I suspect Hardy, Sweed or Bowman will put up a poor showing and should make it. But Hardy's size makes him dangerous and could put him into round 1. He can be a modern-day Harold Carmichael.

Eh, either or is fine. He won't warrant a big contract by any means though and is also a valuable special teamer. Maybe 2 years is better... Or 1...

Thanks. I considered it, but with Gholston, Davis and Haggans coming in and maybe Marques Murrell or Jason Trusnik sticking, I didn't see a need for him. He didn't make much of an impact and missed some big special teams tackles too. He's expendable IMO.

Schuening is the type of guy who could start from Day 1, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to bring another guy in, I agree. Mike Wahle from Carolina just became available and there are other guys out there. I will consider another small OG signing in my next mock.

Thanks. I will consider a DE instead of Jamar Adams next time, but I still think CJ Mosley has some potential as well as he showed how solid of a pass-rusher he is at time last season. Do we have a selection from the Brooks Bollinger trade in the late rounds BTW?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'd like to hear some more opinions.
