I thought Gholston would be a great selection this year. I haven't watched college as much as I used to, but Gholston used to show flashes of brilliance when I'd watch Ohio State some.

But a whole parade of you draftniks then came out and thought it would be a bad selection. You're all entitled to your opinions, and they've been convincing enough to make me re-think Gholston and be a little scared to pick him that high in the draft. With the Jets needs and with the 6th pick in the draft, who would you guys pick for the Jets instead of Gholston?

Either go through all the candidates because I still think there's a solid chance one of the Longs will be at our pick when all is said and done because it's still early in the process. I would assume at this point both Longs, McFadden, and Dorsey would be gone, and the 5th guy would either be Sedrick Ellis, a QB, or maybe someone else, but I'd like to hear a few different opinions on this one.

I Can't See Us Taking A Qb. Too Much Time To Develope Him, And I Don't See Mangenious Being Around Long Enough To See The Results. If He Has Another Bad Season, He's On An Extreamly Short Leash.i Think We Go Defenseive Line

Unless Sedrick Ellis is there at #6, and that's looking less and less likely by the minute, I suspect the real value for the Jets in that spot will be at Running Back .. that is if you really want to maximize the value of that selection

Right now I'm inclined to believe there's a better chance McFadden slides to the Jets than Ellis, and I'm almost certain Glenn Dorsey & Chris Long will be gone as well

But let's say both Long's are gone, Chris & Jake, along with McFadden, Dorsey and Ellis

In that case I believe the real value is at Running Back .. Jonathan Stewart or Rashard Mendenhall .. of the two I would have to cast my lot with Stewart, he's a beast, 5' 11"/230, runs like a bull in a china closet and probably runs in the 4.4's

But its not all about measurables, Stewart had a monster season this year, as did Mendenhall

Anyway, Stewart could be another Steven Jackson and who would regret drafting one of those?

How Can We Justify Taking A Rb, When We Got Tjones Last Season? I'd Kill Them For That. Our Rb's Would Be More The Capable, If Our Linemen Would Open Some Holes!!!

When you look back on this pick, two, three, four and five years from now, you won't even remember what our needs were at the time, all you'll be interested in is did we select a Great Player, a Bust, or Just Another Guy

If its the former, Great Player, I can assure you .. you will never hear one, single, solitary Jet fan express regret over that selection, but you will hear a lot of this ...

"THANK GOODNESS WE SELECTED THAT PLAYER BACK IN 2008!!"

Think about the Giants selecting Justin Tuck when they had DE's out the wazoo .. at first Giant fans b*tched and moaned, but have you heard any Giant fans complain about that pick lately?

I like Stewart a lot, but how much better is Stewart better than someone like Gholston or Harvey? And how much better is Run DMC than Stewart? I understand taking McFadden at 6 because he is a super-elite prospect. If he's gone, why take a runningback? We don't need one that badly, the reason we'd take McFadden is because we think he'd be the next LT or Peterson. You said that Gholston is like your 8th best player available, if he is in fact that good, why take Stewart over him? The only reason to take the runningback is because the value of McFadden is so far above and beyond Gholston or Harvey. I don't see a reason to take Stewart in that spot unless he dominates the combine, which is possible.

ok, so ur saying that if those five players are gone which is a likelihood, u think it would be best to take a running back at #6 instead of gholston? i cant really agree with that considering gholston is looking like a very good prospect who would fill an immediate need.

    Who?
    Jake Long
    Chris Long
    Derick Harvey
    Sam Baker
    Cedric Ellis
    Gholston

We'll get one of those six and they can all make an immediate impact on our team.

We don't need a QB or RB at #6
Both Lines need help I'd be happy with any of those 6

I'm disagreeing with most of the Mocks I see.
Miami could go QB or Defensive Line - most have that
    St Louis is taking D
Atlanta will go QB or RB
Oakland will DEFINITELY go RB - Davis loves sexy picks
KC is going O-line - they are commited to Croyle

So we're sitting pretty for getting a great O or D lineman

i think Oakland is very high on Fargas and Bush, i don?t think they pick a RB, even thou al davis is a complete moron. He didn?t take Calvin Johnson last year, and made a pick who should be better for the team in the long shot. I expect the Raiders to go OL or DL.

St. Louis could also go for Jake Long to have a good alternative for the injury plagued Pace. If Pace is healty, let Long play on the right side, till he takes over the LT after Pace is gone. They gotta find a way to keep Bulger upright.

With the recent cuts, i think Atlanta can pick about anybody. I expect them to pick the player, they think is the BPA. Most likely Ellis or Dorsey, whoever falls.

and Sam Baker at 6? are you serious? y?
