This is a pretty fun Basketball simulation online game. You are the GM of a fantasy basketball team. You control the transactions, training, finances, coaching styles, etc. and let the game engine simulate the games. It is similar to watching a game cast online. I've played about half of one season and am having a lot of fun. It only requires logging in once every day or so or however often you like. http://www.buzzerbeater.org Let me know if you join up.
K, The guy who used to have my team won the title and it had already played the first game before I got in(I lost).
I came in about 2/3 of the way through last season and couldn't win enough games to dig out of the previous gms hole. Now things are looking up but I got relegated to a shitty league
Seems to be an error when you try to sign up a new account. No numbers for the birthdate part, and you can't sign up with out it. Will try again in a few hours. Seems like a lot of fun though. Can you set up a private league? Quick edit: Actually, whenever I choose my birthmonth, it goes to a "buzzerbeater page error" page. Happen to anyone else? (also, birthdate still missing)
The game is free but you can make a donation of like $45 a year and get "supporter" features. They include the ability to set up/join private leagues as well as customize your teams page, run a blog and a slew of other little options. I haven't supported the site and am not sure I will but it is something to consider if there are enough players on there.
Got it to worked, signed up team name Hairy Dawgs (stupid name I know, my dog was under my feet when I signed up, so I had to do it) I'm a little lost right now, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. My first game is tonight (I'm already 1-0 from previous team owner I guess). My lineup looks pretty good.
I'm no expert but I may be able to answer some questions. One thing to note, DMI means very little, salary is a decent indicator of talent but I would consider setting up a spreadsheet and averaging both the total rankings for each player and the position specific rankings for each player. It is helpful to see which players are better overall and which are better at specific positions. There is no known rule for which categories contribute most to which positions, but you can get a general idea that passing is good for PG, rebounding is good for PF, etc. etc.
Also, apparently height has little to do with the game play but it is embedded in the rankings. I.E. a 5'11" guard will have a harder time reaching proficient rebounding than a 6'11" PF. But if the guard is better than the PF at rebounding, he should win the battle. I am reluctant to play short players at SF and PF but since this is the case, you can play small ball if you would like to and not get hit too bad if you have the players.
I was in league III.2 and I got banished to a league with exactly 1 human player in it (me). So that sucks but I'm hoping to go undefeated and get back into a good league.
