Yes indeed. Though I would disagree in Clemens case.....Eli didnt do much last night that Clemens hasnt done this season, in terms of making throws.....Clemens more or less needs a chance to grow into consistency. Though I think after last night, the whole Clemens/Pennington debate needs to be dead.

Agreed. The Bring Back Pennington contingent needs to get over it and move on into the future. This is the same group that wanted Eli to suck as well. It took heroics last night. It took arm strength and I watched the same game JWWS did and didn't see one Pennington Duck anywhere. Eli and the Giants came of age when they won in Green Bay and it showed last night.

The Jets can make the leap from dumping ground to legitmate contender but not with a game manager at QB and mediocre guys everywhere else. The Giant DLine had rookies making huge plays last night. Smith and Tyree made great catches as well. They're called playmakers and the Jets needs every one they can find for the right price.

This super bowl demonstrated the Bill Belichick is an ego maniac and a sore cheater. I watched the coverage and he ran off field rather then go over and shake Coughlin?s hand ; wow that?s real class (Unless I turned the T.V. off before it happened) Maybe Tom should write "Good Game " on a Duncan donuts napkin and mail it to him!

he did embrace coughlin in the middle of the field but then cleared off before the giants took the knee to finish

Agree with many thoughts in this thread.

To add one other observation. The Giants demonstrated that it takes time and patience to build a SB Champ and that winning teams are built through the DRAFT. ...Off the top of my head here are the Giants draft picks, over the last 4 years, each of which are a key to their success.

    QB Drafted ( Eli )
    RB's Drafted (Jacobs, Bradshaw)
OL Drafted ( Diehl, Suebert, Snee)
    WR Drafted (Smith, Toomer)
DL Drafted (Alford, Strahan, Tuck, Osi)
DB Drafted ( Ross, Webster, Wilson)

......their have been NO flashy big name Free Agents that have come in to satisfy the fans and the media alike. Plaxico was not a big name FA, he has made more a name for himself since joining the Giants...

Jets fans have to agree that the last two years the Jets brain trust has done an excellent job at drafting key players...let's follow a winning model...be patient...sign the right FA's...not necessarily the big name FA's, but the right FA's and continune to draft intelligent, hard working, unselfish, athletes.....

It also demonstrated the Pats don't get all the calls.

The Giants have had numerous FA's and have made some key trades and this is the second SB in the decade they have been to. They also built their second SB team in the decade around a QB who they went out and very aggresively pursued trading away several top picks for.

    The Sack Exchange...

We all remember the Sack Exchange - and we should note that during their tenure we were a competitive team - and came oh so close to the Super Bowl.

I was watching all of the Super Bowls on ESPN this week - and recall several key plays - many were sacks. A pass rush is critical to success of a football team. And as the "experts" say, the pass rush from the front 4 makes it more effective.

Whatever this franchise does moving forward, we need to have a pass rush...if we have ANY hope of another Super Bowl for the Jets.

Yesterday showed Mangini and co everything they need to know about the upcoming draft. We need to get guys who can get at brady and put him on his a**! Brady is not Brady when he has pressure!

Teams always copycat the blueprints of whoever wins the Super Bowl each year, and I think this year it would definitely be in the best interest of the Jets to copycat the Giants blue print... offensive line, and PASS RUSH!

What this SB should accomplish is it should shut everyone up that thinks it is better to go 6-10 than make the playoffs. You cant win the SB if you dont make the playoffs, this year proves that any team that makes the playoffs has a shot.

You think if we made the playoffs this year we had a shot? We are where we need to be in the draft because we s**K! This year proves we need to draft players on both sides of the line in hopes that we can compete for a Superbowl one day. The Giants won the Sb because their Defensive line is Awesome!

Only teams that make the playoffs have a shot to win it. You think any Giants fan thought this was a possibilty in November? December?

You help confirm my comment. Yes they made trades, but those trades came at draft day, where they then went and drafted their core players. They do not go out and make huge splashes in free agent signing. They sign players that they develop and add FA's that comploment those core players.

The Giants were on a roll when they got to the playoffs and their line is awesome. They had a legit shot to win the big one. The answer is yes I do think they believed they had a shot. They were not an obligitory dormat first round team like Tampa or the Redskins.

Arguably their best Defensive and offensive players are FA's. They have done a great job drafting particularly in round 2 but they also have pulled the trigger on some very key big time FA's. Pierce, K-Mak and Burress are absolute key players for the Giants. They go nowhere without them.

Back in November the Giants were much more likely to suffer another late season collapse than they were to go on to win the SB. This was one of the impropable champiuonship runs in history. They werent on much of a roll leading up to the playoffs, they finished up the season winning an ugly game in Buffalo and losing a close game to the Pats. They started their run in the playoffs and rode the momentum into an impropable SB championship. That wouldn't have happened if they didnt barely beat Buffalo to make the playoffs.

The Giants have Sb Talent on their team. The Ny Jets do not. Is there anyone on our team that can get after Brady like they did yesterday? The answer is No. They have the talent to slay the dragon unlike 95% of the teams in the league. We could have made the playoffs and we would have lost 45-10 like we always do because we don't have anybody to get at Brady. You saw the blueprint to beat the Pats last night? Do we have anything that resembles that pass rush that would make you even think we could beat the Pats or Colts, Jags, Steelers or Chargers for that matter? Just because you make the playoffs does not mean you have the Personnel to slay the dragon.
Are you from the Rudy, Rocky Balboa lets hope for a Miracle school of thought.

The Giants have one of the most talented squads in the league. I don't think it's as good as the Pats squad or Dallas but you would be hard pressed to find another 53 man squad with the depth and amount of stud playmakers the Giants have.

Their defensive line is as good as I have ever seen, that makes the rest of the D better. The rest of their D is filled with average players outside of Pierce and maybe Wilson. The Dline has been their one consistent unit the entire year.

On O, you could see Manning gaining confidence with every win in the playoffs. From being the game manger in the TB game then being asked to do a little bit more in the Dallas game until finally stepping up with big game performance in the championship game and outright winning the SB for his team in the 4th quarter. The rest of the O just made big plays in big spots, mostly from role players, outside of Plaxico huge championship game.

Back in November Giants fans were looking for a way to run Manning out of town, now they are SB champs after very nearly missing out on the playoffs altogether. They won the SB because their Dline completely dominated and they made big plays in big spots, not because they are all that talented of a team.
