5 sacks on Tom Brady and 18 knockdowns. Discuss.

    EDIT:
I'm not the biggest draft guru this year, but I like to look up everything I can on the thing. This post was simply a reaction to seeing how the Giants got to Tom Brady and knocked him down. They've drafted a lot of guys who were known as pass rushers in college (Umenyiora, Tuck, Kiwanuka, Torbor), and it paid off for them. Not to mention they already have Strahan.

We don't have one guy who can get to the QB at all.

Ugh, always the Michigan clips!

Ironically we should try and draft BOTH players in the pic.

The bottom line is the a PASS RUSH is the great equalizer in the NFL. Sure, you need a top flight QB to take advantage of the opportunities. So - what do we need?

    A Pass Rush...

I completely agree, and I have no reservations about drafting heavy here. I think there are plenty of talented guys who will slip through the cracks and fall a bit this year that we can get our hands on.

    Gholston is my #1 choice

The Jets simply cannot afford to let their anemic pass-rush continue into next season. I know its not a huge thing, but he's versatile enough to play the 4-3 too. He's the ideal 3-4 OLB.

It takes more than one player... if all you have is one good pass rusher then they double team, chip, roll the protection to his side. The Giants have 4 VERY GOOD pass rushers and you cannot block all of them hence the numbers in your post.

my only concern about Gholsten (and its prolly a major non factor) is his height/weight. isn't he 6' 240 (i should probably research b4 i post). between him and vilma (5'11, if that). i always like to LB's 6'2" to 3", 250lb, but i guess height doesn't matter if you do your job well. if everyone raves him, then i guess he's my choice at 6. him or Long/Ellis. either way i'd like to see DL/LB with the first pick (unless DMC is there, then trade only to those willing to give up the ghost).

also, can you say "juice". he's a scary man.

I'm pretty sure Gholston is about 6'4 260.. He has the size and attributes it takes to be a special one.

I know that Gholston is a bit of a one-dimensional player. But to those folks out there who still don't believe we need a player like him, look again. The Giants have stockpiled passrushers, with Strahan, Umenyiora, Tuck, and Kiwanuka. We don't have one guy who can get to the quarterback, and don't give me Brian Thomas. If Gholston is as good as people say about him, then he should be the pick.

I think he will be exciting, i don't understand the haters on this one. I like "one dimensional" if that dimension is crushing QBs. Sign me up. I love the pick lets get him.

Unless Chris Long drops to our lap, it seems like Gholston is our man.

This drafts seems like it's pretty deep in some of the areas that we want to improve. I'd like to see us pick-up some more first day picks, if possible, by trading players that really don't fit the 3-4. Extra 2nd and 3rd rounder would be awesome.

I'm going to jump on the Gholston bandwagon as well. Draft this guy. And while we're at it, let's use the Asante Samuel money to sign Jared Allen. Now we have a pass rush and a good secondary.

what do we do with the offensive line?

Why the hell would we want Jared Allen? What position would he play?
