Anyone think the Giants win will help light a match under Woody's ass? Will we get a real Def Coord, actually spend some money of FA's (i.e. no more Kimo and David Bowens being the big ticket signings), get an O-line, some legit playmakers, etc....
Exactly how is Woody cheap? I fail to see this. We went to a younger coaching staff, and we need to get more young players. We didn't go apeshit last year to get free agents, but the Redskins have proved that just signing a lot of free agents doesn't lead to good teams.
We can all hope so. This Jets team isn't that far away really. We have 2 capable QB's, I sincerely feel we'd be in good hands with either. they just need to be protected We have receivers(coles and cotchery), we have a tight end (baker) We have 2 good running backs. We have a very good secondary! fill the holes in the offensive and defensive line through free agency or the draft, and we've got a good team!
Is Bob Sutton a legit D Coord? No he's a cheap option, a BS excuse. What kind of line is Clarke, Moore, Clement? A cheap BS line. I'm not saying follow the Redskins model, but who is the biggest FA signing under Woody? We never sign anyone, it's a laughing matter.
Another really humiliating example is the ceremonies to Curtis and Wayne (2 ticket within the continental 48 states)...what a friggin joke.
Bob Sutton is who Mangini picked to be his DC. Do you really think that Woody wouldn't write the check for a big name assistant if thats who Mangini wanted? As far as the line goes, we have 2 first round picks on our line, and the rest are scrubs. This is a personnel issue, which is Tangini's problem. We had salary cap problems till this year. Now we're in good shape.
The point is I really hate Woody, to the point where I find it hopeless as long as he, Adrian Clarke, and Bob Sutton are in the organization.
We had $10M of unused cap space, we couldn't use that to front-load an FA signing? The team is a disgrace. I bleed green, but I'm so tired of this lack of dedication to winning. And yes, I really, really question whether Woody would pony up for real coordinators. Look at his coaching hires - Groh, Herm, and it was down to Mike Tice or a 34 year old 1 year experienced coordinator. Woody is a cheap sorry excuse for an owner.
So who would you have brought in to be our coaches? Parcells was GM, and Woody wanted to keep him around the organization. Bill hired BB, who ditched us, an the Bill hired Groh. Groh walked out on us, and we got Herm... who I hated but he did a decent job for us. With Herm, he gave us 2 pretty damn big hires as coordinators, with Westy and Heimerdinger.
Say Manging goes 4-12 this year, you think Woody will interview Bill Cowher or some person we've never heard of again like Herm? I'll bet you a mortgage payment he interviews cheap disgraces.
Say Mangini goes 12-4, will you admit that Woody was right and you really don't know what you are talking about?
I heard of Herm and Mangini before we hired them. If Mangini goes 4-12 this year again, I still think he gets one more year. But Chowher is not somebody that I particularly want to see as Jets coach.
WTF... Strahan = Drafted by the Giants Tuck = Drafted by the Giants Osi = Drafted by the Giants Cofield = Drafted by the Giants Alford = Drafted by the Giants Kiwanuka = Drafted by the Giants Snee = Drafted by the Giants Diehl = Drafted by the Giants O'Hara = Drafted/develop by the Giants You know who the FA's are on the Giants? Antonio Pierce...who has and always will remain a very underrated player, not a big name signing. Kiwika Mitchell got a 1 year 1 million dollar contract. Fred Robbins is one of their million DTs. McKenzie was a big contract, but we actually...had him at one point...Plaxico's the biggest name FA and they didn't get him until they built their O-line and got a young QB. I'm going to end up hating this Super Bowl if what it does is make Jets fans even MORE impatient than they already are...
If he goes 12-4, bump this thread and I'll eat all the crow anyone throws. We all know he's not going 12-4, no chance.
Jets looking for DWare, you prove my point - the Giants retain their draft picks, we let McKenzie, Thomas, Keyshawn, Coles, etc all go after their rookie contract is up. Damn Woody to hell.
Woody? Besides Keyshawn (overrated), all of those good, young players were let go by our idiot last regime. Woody may have played a part, but I put most of that blame on Herm and Bradway's obsessive loyalty to veterans. And how does that prove your point? You sound like a "go sign some big named FA's" fan...yet no recent championship team has been built through FA signings.
Two things... one, the Giants proved this year that continuity is beneficial (what was it a month ago there was talk of Coughlin possibly getting fired?) and that eventually could lead to a championship. Cowher proved the same thing in Pittsburgh. Second, the Jets had better take the film from the Super Bowl and watch it... over... and over... and over... and over... and over... The way you beat the Patriots is by getting in Tom Brady's face all day long. The Giants were the only team who did it great, and now they are Super Bowl champs, and the Patriots are undefeated nobodies.
