What would a Patriots win mean outside of Massachusetts ? Will the rest of the USA regard the Pats as an incredible dynasty or a bunch of cheats? Does this taint the holy grail that we call the superbowl?
I will remember it as cheating, but the general uninformed public will just think Brady looks cuter in jeans and cowboy hats
all i?ll remeber, is that but i think the media will make them the best team there ever wasn, and will be.
Nobody will care. Remember a few years back when Denver cheated on the salary cap and won 2 Super Bowls? Was there any reaction by the public about it? Lets face it, in 3 years, if you ask the common fan who won the Superbowl this year most would not be able to name whomever without thinking about it for a long time. Nobody cares.
As a Jet fan, I can't stand the Pats but give credit where it's due. They are a great great franchise. Enough of that over doing the spygate stuff,,, all these NFL teams supposedly do that. Some of you sound so freakin jealous.
All the spygate and "cheating" stuff was before this season. The Pats "cheated" in the first quarter of the first game and from there were under the watch of the league. One can make the argument that perhaps the previous 3 SB's they won when they were cheating would be remembered for that (although I don't think that's the case) but of all the league rules infractions discovered in the Pats past, this is the one year where all of the "cheatriots!!1" discussion is irrelevant to this specific season.
It will be hard for many people to say that they won four superbowls. The first three will always be tarnished.
I'm sorry but no one is going to forget about an undefeated season anytime soon. We still have to hear about the god damn 72 Dolphins every season.
I don't know, screwing up your cap and going out of your way to tape your opponents every move is a lot different, you can have all the cap room in the world, you don't spend the money right, it don't matter, you loose, ask the Knicks. Knowing what our opponent is going to do before they do it? That is quite the advantage.
They won't be remembered how we want them too. ESPN and the NFL will do everything they possibly can to preserve their image. ats_suck:
I disagree. If the Pats did in fact cheat int he 3 previous SB's, this does impact the team. If they weren't winning, some of their players would leave via Free Agency and some of the Free Agents they garnered (Corey Dillon) would not have gone to the Patriots.
You sound crazy. Not every team films other teams sidelines and practices. If you think that every team is doing that then you're an idiot. The Patriots are cheaters and if you can't recognize this than you must be a Patriots fan.
I fail to see how it's just "jealousy" when the Patriots have been accused of doing all kinds of things that are against NFL rules. They've been breaking multiple rules.
A man after my own heart. The cheating thing was dead after a month, so why should anyone think that it will be remembered down the road? If the Patriots win they will be crowned by virtually every member of the media as the best team ever. That is what will be remembered.
Was, past tense. At possibly 19-0 they are there to be shot at and there are people who will want to make a quick buck. What is it thats said about throwing muck? Once the SB is won its done and dusted after a week. Spygate is going to rumble on and on until someone(s) lose their jobs
We'll just have to see, gus, but I will be very surprised if anyone (other than a few Jets fans) is talking about Spygate in a month. The fact is that nobody really cares. Edit: I will agree that if this post turns out to be true that will change things.
