The Yanks are in close to rebuild mode rog. Face it. They have 2or 3 pitchers slated for the rotation that "shouldn't" pitch more then 150 IP especially in the AL East. Ask Joe Girardi about Josh Johnson.

Unless they make a deal for a Loshe or Livan they have an uphill battle come August September.

^ not to mention the bullpen may be the worst in baseball....even if joba is there, which hurts the rotation.....if joba starts then we may have the worst pen in the history of baseball...thast why I wanted santana.....then after 6 years when hes not great anymore id worry about a replacement.........hughes shmughes

Explain to me why Hughes and Joba are going to be worst then what we had last year in their positions

Next year Joba and Hughes will flame out by September, all young pitchers hit that wall no matter how much you baby them. And as jonnyd said, your bullpen was only manageable last year because of Joba, but with him in the rotation to be replaced by Latroy Hawkins, that could get ugly. The Yankees may end up taking a step back before taking a step forward.

It is their IP limitations. They have never pitched a full MLB season.

I'm just happy he is not in Boston.

At least, with the Mets, I can watch one of the best pitchers ever pitch all the time.

Give me a break. Yankee fans are happy because this whole Santana saga has finally ended without him going to Boston and the Yanks keeping their prospects, the two things most Yankee fans wanted all along. Don't try to paint us out as sore losers because they weren't even fully in the game for weeks. BTW most Yankee fans are being very complimentary toward the Mets and their fans, so why is there even a need to start BS?

Look at the facts man..... the Mets were 2 games under .500 from June 1st on. Call it what you want but all it takes is a little research and you'll see it was no collapse. It was a bad team, they were hardly the best team in the NL.

How is having 3 unproven rookies stable?

Their is no chance they take a step back in their progress?

Sure, there's a chance. There's also a chance that Santana blows out his elbow or that his second-half slump last year was indicative of decline. How much stock would you put in those chances, though? Not much, is my bet.

The thing you need to understand is that - even if all three of them (Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain) regress by a significant amount next season - you're still looking at a rotation that is stronger and more stable than last year. No Chase Wright. No Clippard. No Igawa. No Karstens. No Rasner. No DeSalvo.

And this doesn't even take into account the fact that the Yanks should be have additional mid- to top-level prospects who could contribute next year if something does go wrong. Chase Wright is/was a nobody. DeSalvo is/was a nobody.

Even if the Yanks experience a rash of injuries and/or suckitude, they have better quality personnel able to step up than what you saw last year.

I'd rather the Yankees take a step back next year than give up the prospects and payroll flexibility for Santana.

It was a great move for the Mets, though.
